Sauvignon and semillon produce awfully dull wines in Bordeaux, but in Australia can be wonderful.

But not always

Sainsbury TTD Western Australia Sauvignon/Semillon

Smells composty like a cheap South African sauv and doesn't taste any better.

Palandri Pinnacle Sauvignon/Semillon 2005

72% semillon and 28% sauv and the wine is fantastic. Lemon/lime with a fabulous Pouilly Fume like gooseberry finish.

Stunning at ?5.49...Even more stunning at it's offer price of ?4.49

Where is the Palandri on offer G? im currently getting through a batch of Palandri Reisling picked up in the Sommerfield sell-off, lovely stuff.

My fave Ausi Semillon has to be the Peter Lehmann Barossa Semillon, always have some around. The current 04 hasnt got the bite the 01 & 02 had but I would still take it over the Tim Adams at ?3~?4 more.

Hi

The Palandri semillon/sauv is ..or was on offer at Somerfield.

Even if the offer has gone it's still worth trying it at ?5,49.

I love Peter Lehmann semillon and the 2005 is almost back to it's best. It's certainly got more flavour than the rather lame 2004.

I just bought 2 cases at ?3.74 at Tesco even though the offer was supposed to be over last week.

The Tesco Finest Denman Estate Reserve semillon which is supposed to be on offer at ?3.99 down from ?7.99, but wasn't when I went there today, is stunning.

Very intense and like a blend of aged semillon and Aussie riesling.

Tim Adams semillon has a really big reputation but the few people I know who've tried it found it a bit oaky.....maybe the oak fades after time.

Tim Adams riesling is fabulous though.

Almost as good as Leasingham Magnus ..which is on offer at Sainsbury for ?5.99

Best

G

Hi Mel. Yes they regularly have offers- including occasional 'proper' half price ones i.e. main list wines that return to full price for the rest of the year. They also run www.everywine.co.uk - contact details are on the web-site. In my view their list is second only to Waitrose. Tim
