mine arriving tonight too

I prefer this Yali tonight, after a little oxidation ! The new world **softness has expired (some kind of **super yeast additive), and now I can feel on my tongue, more of a tannic structure with sufficient acidy on my palate.

Nice.

Thankfully checked before the drive left and were trying to get it sorted now

FFS. Absolutely livid!!!
Customer services telling me their t&c state if they can't provide the wine requested they provide an alternative
They have no Carmenere in stock so i can either keep the chardonnay, replace it for a similar alternative at same value or get refund (good will £5 gesture offered)

Refund taken and requested a call back from a more senior manager due tomorrow

Not at all happy

Like to see them try and offer a white when someone is waiting for a case of chateau margaux to arrive:
http://www.decanter.com/news/wine-news/ ... 231112&dec

When I asked how is a white wine a similar alternative the lady on the phone's response was "I don't know, I don't really drink wine"
Good grief!!!

Did you see the Delivery Note?

Sounds like a picking error to me.

They both begin with 'C' so they must be similar.
Their substitution antics are a nightmare. There is a little box to tick somewhere...'do not substitute' or some such.
They've done me several times but not that bad. I just sent everything back.

I really wouldn't want to try their pharmacy !!!

Shez, I immediately went to check my other box. Bu**er :x

I also have 6 Chardonnay - Damn it.

I'm going for damage limitation !

I particularly like the Yali 2008 bottle development. Last night, after a little oxidation overnight, it was very Good indeed. I got offered a £10 credit to compensate, but I want the wine, not the money ..... So

I am trying to find some in the Tesco network, it stands to reason that if we have received the wrong wines from a picking error, then their computer record will now be zero, yet the physical wine will be in their warehouse - Somewhere ???

There is a "Tesco Search the Stores number 0800 505 555 I'm gonna try that now.
At least I have 5 left, I'm really sorry that you dont have any at all - that's a megga rat bag.

I've found 3 bottles in the stores within a 15 mile radius - so far, but now I cant get them to consolidate small numbers to make-up my order - Damn.

Watch this space.

Shez,

Hey - Thanks for this Decanter link. That is this Monday 26th ?

I'm gonna have a very close look at the cru bourgeois wine offers. I love the cab dominated Haut-Medoc 2009s, Moulis '09 could also be truly amazing given my delving into the cheap ones so far.

To be honest I did debate keeping 6 of the Chardonnay but was so cross at the time that I didnt
I bet it turns out to be decent
I have a store about 6miles away that has a stock of yali but all 2010 vintage
If customer services return I'll maybe ask about them honouring their price for these in store... Won't get my hopes up tho

They have to honour it, I established that general principle today. But I want the 2008, Like for Like.

I'm thinking of negotiating the Montes Cab Carmenere 2011, But TBH, I'd rather have the Yali '08 which is up to Alpha merlot standards in my book. But I have sown that seed on the phone this morning, and it is noted on my order number now.

Shez, I'm going to phone the big T Wine advisors on Sunday on 0845 0269998, they don't do Saturdays - we can talk about the clarets coming up on Monday

I got mine ok, six of the '08 Carmenere.

Too bad Shez, I think your luck peaked with the Musar

Joyful - bucket loads. Cross - niggled, not quite so bad.

Shez, on balance - You are streets ahead.

Refund taken and requested a call back from a more senior manager due tomorrow What is your negotiating angle now ?

I bet it turns out to be decent
Shez, Do you know something ?? Of that 3 lagoons GR Chardonnay 2011 - I can't find a thing on it in Europe. Nearest current stockist - Newfoundland, coast of Labrador ! If it is a clone of the style of the Montes Signature Reserve chardonnay, I may hold. Who knows ?

Of the '08 lagoons carmenere, Aurelio Montes was the wine consultant - that makes sense.

I got some of the 2010 in store. £4.99 x 0.75 = £3.74 per bottle :D

One thing that is notable about this vintage is it does not have the ridiculously heavy bottle. Has a sticker claiming carbon neutral too ;)

I don't actually find the '08 bottle to be heavier than say a decent claret bottle (decent , as in the wine quality), perhaps previous viintages were more fashionably incapsulated

The bottle does have a very deep punt, and is wider at the shoulder than it is at the base, so that could distract you. Ventisquero named the Three Lagoons after their efforts to save the Wetlands. The MD of that very large Chilean company who financed this project got a load of wine making support from Montes and the company made a significant contribution from the wine sales to the environment there - He says, more detail may be read on Tom Canavan's site about this.

Yali '08 Carmenere. I've got an update:

As you know I asked Tesco wine advisors, on 0845-0269-998 to try and find the Yali '08 Carmenere in their warehouse, they understood that I wanted the '08 vintage. They have looked, but couldn't find it. They said they were very sorry, but don’t worry, we'll give you a refund, and we'd like you to keep the box of 3 Lagoons Chardonnay with our compliments, that was at 17:30 this afternoon, and just now, the refund email has come in to confirm this.

If Tesco want to show the way in the UK online wine business, they are certainly going the right way about it. I think their service to me, and on other exchange / no quibble swap occasions has been excellent.

This is a bit of value added, see below:

If the Wine Advisors do get a call from the warehouse tomorrow, Ja***ie will call here, and we can start another order for 6. I only want the 2008, and she properly understood my interest for that particular wine on that vintage.

TBF - You can't fault that sort of effort from their Dundee wine office to correct this problem
