Don't you like V and E. 2003 is tricky, and I'm not sure it would still be lively in 11/12. What about having one around Christmas and seeing how it's going. Just an idea.
Mel, thanks for the opinion. Yeah, 2003 is not tannic enough, but holding incredibly well, cos the fruit has such a huge dimension. The V & E, too much for me. With Christmas Pudding and cream may be - is a good idea. We were drinking this as a post dinner port, so to be fair to the wine, it was completely naked to my observation for defects.
A note for best beaune lovers - 2003 is lush in my book (MW's say 2003 is too ripe, but good 03 cote d'or prices have risen by 40% in the last 12 months or so !)
For main course (acquired in the early cr. crunch) I bought a Chanson Beaune Cham Pimonts 1er 2003 last one
For me that evening, nothing could compare to the seduction of that full figured beauty and harmonious balance of that nectar. Therefore, and perhaps for me, this economic Marg hadn't got a chance.
I should keep a tea spoon full of Hardy's Crest on hand - then everything in my dinner party stock would be wonderful
