The mind boggleth.

Talking of finest, Finest Chablis Grand Cuvée 2012 is down to £6.99 in stores before the 25% discount -it's the 2012 you're after.

:qofgoodvalue:

Also Tesco Finest Vina Mara Rioja Reserva 2008 is down to £7.99 before discount, it received a gold and a red 'great value' sticky label from IWC this year. Not tried the 2008 but previous years have been good.

Wizz, have you tried it ? Mel said "It's a fine line between rain on warm stone and matchbox.
**This wine is produced / bottled by the Union de vignerons chablis. This is a positive producer for consistency.

The Finest 1er on vintage 2009, a soft vintage that could be a tad soapy by now, I never found much minerality on some of these budget '09 1ers, the fruit seemed to be too ripe & a bit pappy to my mind.

The 2010 1er from the union of Chabby producers, in the stores and online should be a good'un though. I should report back on these.

Heads up for Goose, Bacchus & Dunc...

VM Taylor's Pass 2012 in store here for £11.99 (£4 off I think)
Therefore £9 when buying 6
This won Decanters regional award for NZSB over £15:
http://www.decanter.com/dwwa/2013/wine/ ... -2012/4700
Not on Bob's site but scored well in 2009 and we know the cellar select & WR 2012 are both excellent

I've not bought any myself yet but am sorely tempted
So far I've just picked up double discounted Nic Feuill Brut for £11.25

That award faced some stiff competition !
Good call :) This style will suit me. I will get down there to check.

I did try. Honest !

I returned with 12 bottles of Greene King IPA Gold. £1/bottle with Tesco's 4 for £6 offer and 12 50p off voucher cards. I love this beer. It has the crispness of lager but with all the pungency of a good English craft beer. Tastes very strongly of jasmine. In the heatwave I began to find most ales too heavy and joined in with the canned Fosters brigade.

I was a slave to the Oz marketing monster for two weeks.

Ta very much Shez but Taylor's Pass ain't my style of SB. Please, all of you try the Masson PF at Waitrose . It is stunning. 2011.

As for Tesco's instore wines......zzzzzz.

You lost me and my respect at Fosters...

GK IPA Gold was on offer at sainsburys the other week for £1 per bottle. I picked a few up back then.

You have to get lucky at tescos I guess. I've seen Kim Crawford MSB on shelfs bin ended. One store had 2010s for £9.50
But I got lucky and found a solitary 2012 for 6.49 in another store.

The Macon Village is now £4 and a very acceptable swigger-plus. Have had this 2012 and during the 25% jobby, well worth a :qofgoodvalue:

You are a star, Shez :)

Went to the big Reading store today. The Taylors P. was actually priced as £14.99 on the wooden fine wines racks along with Cloudy B. at £19.99 and pink Bolly at £49.99. Plenty of dust in there
I had to do some foot work to get this offer.
I decided to find the suited & booted wine manager, Jay, and then we interrogate their in-store computer. Tesco have the fine wines in a different folder (data base), so I asked him to look for any HQ instructions for an offer on this wine. He was pretty suprised when it turned up the instruction to offer at £11.99 "Oh...We should'ov dun this" he says. There are some horizontal dusty bottles with those blue security tops on, that I begin to pull out from the back, I say, can you check the stock room on the computer ? Yep, we have two boxes round the back, it is cool in there, would a full box do ? Not arfff........
I'm now pretty chuffed, I have a smart unopenned black box of 6 x Villa Maria Taylors Pass 2012 sauvignon blanc for £53.95 ! Yeah.....He wrote the till code on the box for the discounted price, so avoiding any embarrasment at the till.
A very smart dinner party bottle it is - here's hoping the contents are as tidy. We loved what Vavasour did with Awatere fruit in '09 & '10, and I enjoyed the "sancerre on stone & shale steroids" version from Astrolabe Awatere 2010. Interpolation, and a very dry, and slightly cool vintage from Feb 12 till harvest time, implies elegance.
A very happy chappie is me.

It's all down to you Shez - ta very muchly :)

Great news Dunc. Glad to have helped
I purchased 2 bottles yesterday. Got a feeling I'm gonna wish I picked up more but must try and resist
