Katnook tis good - sounds bloody marvelous for the dosh, nothin to do with being in North Wales on hols then ? Mind over Mmmmm....and all that stuff.

I was a good boy over the hot week-end, Yet enjoyed massively the Ligny Chablis with trout fillets, homegrown summer spinnage and rocket and homemade bread and butter, all the more so, cos GK didn't manage to score it from Homewares Bargains or only a quid

Started to imagine that I could find fresh yeasty crusty bread notes in that bargain Chablis - - Oh yes - but no unfortunately.

Would be - Wonderful with Breton rock oysters from Loch Fyne's take away service..... Ahhh the rampant imagination of ole wine buffers plays havoc for sensible folks .... Who don't get it

We were lucky with the weather, had a fab week. Of course everything tastes better on hols, including all that fresh welsh lamb....

I had a lovely bottle of chablis too, Domaine Dampt Old Vine '06, I wondered if I had left it a bit late to open this, and there was just the faintest hint of oxy taint, but overall a beaut. I also drank my last bottle of Tim Adams '04 semillon, nice but not spectacular, I felt the wine was 'thickening up' and wondered if six years had tired this usually hardy wine, the orange fruit flavours were beginning to fade and the wood was bossing.

I got back to a plot knee deep in weeds and bursting with activity.

I mostly agree altho I think I prefer the Montes Alpha at a similar price range
Think I was hoping for a little more fruit in the Katnook

Don't get me wrong, it is a reasonable drop for what is their benchmark range
Would like to have a try of some of their estate & limited release wines

Yeah, another welcome to the New York rebel rouser as well. You never said which club you did the actual Stag Do Maybe you couldn't move after hitting the bottle so hard on clearing out the duty free Liquor store

Hi guys

I picked up some Saint Nic, Begerac and Touraine. All 09. Tried a few. Nothing jumped out but still quite young. We had a Chateau Montconcour Vouvray 2002, which was past its best. Tasted fine but the aroma was a bit musty. Possibly slightly corked.

I also picked up the last case of the Couronne at Maj Calais for under £6.50 a bottle. It was the best wine tasted on the trip. Delicious. Also some Mont Milan Corbieres 07 for just over 3 euros a bottle.

We enjoyed the trip mostly. The campsite we were at is fantastic, but the weather was not great.

I've been quite busy since we got back. It looks like the move is to go ahead next week!

Hi Duncan,

got back last monday morning on red eye flight but have been playing catch up so haven't been able to be active on here.
Thought sleeping on the plane would help cut the jet lag but was still feeling it for a few days

Nothing to report in terms of wine on the stag
Like you said, we pickled ourselves on spirit and beer instead

Made it to a few different clubs over the trip but would actually say the most enjoyable time was an afternoon spent at The Frying Pan
