Had something similar in a pub recently, it was on cask and tasted delicious but I cant remember the name (went on to a wine tasting afterwards and destroyed a few million brain cells).

Me, I hate it (and Marmite). I am told by many that it is completely different in Ireland and MUCH better.

Urban myth, I've drank it in bar at the Guinness Brewery in Dublin and in a number of surrounding pubs, there's no real difference to note.

But, Im no Guinness expert, so....

Yeah, can't believe there is THAT much of a difference over there/. Unless they add a spoon full of sugar to it, it aint gonna taste any better IMO

Often wonder what it'd be like with a shot of Baileys thrown in...

Have tried it will Tia Maria shot which sweetens it up but still aint quite right

...and Guiness and Black is just medicinal !

Rumour has it that in and around Dublin it is not pasteurised. Maybe it is a psychological thing but it does seem to taste better whenever I've been over there.

Re Guinness, if there are subtle differences to the taste, it may have something to do with the water used, Diageo now produce this in a number of sites around Europe, they can’t all be using the same well.

Certain cost nothing amber retsina is great with charcoalled red snapper on the Peloponnese quayside......but not so cool in grey TV climes here in berks.
