Class.....sheer class.

No blackcurrant leaf this vintage just pure nettles.

Proper sauvignon.

Now look, you.

This is seriously the business. 09 not 08 which is nice enough. Do buy and tell me how you think this compares to whatever is your favourite MB.

For those that know their sauvs this is very similar to the 07 Sileni The Straits.

Indeed GK, I had forgotten.

as you delicately explained last night

The greatest bargains can only be obtained near the historical home of the creator of the Pirelli Calendar.

Not a green bean or bit of compost in sight.

Lovely

Been there, done that. Will try the Springfield and give you the definitive unassailable opinion.

Firefinch is made from bought in grapes. The Special Cuvee and the Life From Stone are Estate wines from neighbouring but different single vineyards.

I usually prefer LfS as it is more intense but some years the SC has the edge.

LfS seems to have vanished from teh shops this year though

Is it really? That's not how they market the wine, the description on the label gives the impression the grapes are estate grown.

Cheeky sods

I will have another look this evening.

I'd be interested.

Look for the Wine of Origin

If the label says Estate then the wine is grown made and bottled on the Estate.

I think the whole point of the Firefinch label is that they can expand production above what they can grow. Problem with an Estate is that you are limited not only to the area you have to grow vines but also the amount produced, so that bad weather, disease or a hailstorm can wipe out production.

Even lovelier now. No flavour or colour development but less acidic.

On a par now with the excellent 07

2010 is nice but a step down.
