A Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Shiraz, Syrah, Petit Verdot blend which comes together really rather well, although Cabernet Sauvignon with a dash of Pinotage was all that I could detect.

Plenty of rich dark smoky flavour with bags of fruit.

Very good plonk and a ridiculous bargain at £3.99 - would go superbly with spicy winter stews or a summer barbeque if you can’t wait that long.

Yeah, totally agree with you. the extra 20p is worth an extra £2 quid.

You can get stupidly drunk on this. Very easy, down your neck my friends, very easy going but with some grip as well. You can knock a bottle back - be careful.......

You are warned

Funny enough I had gone to Tesco b4 seeing this to buy the D Tree 07 which had a decent write up - while i was there 1 got the last 2 bottles of the 06 as a bin end reduced cost - as they only sold the Dragon Tree 08 - so will try the 06.

Flagstone 'Dragon Tree’ 2007

14%vol, South Africa (£10.25; Tesco)

Bruce Jack might have taken the Constellation shilling, but he still makes wonderful stuff at his beloved Flagstone (a former dynamite factory). This cabernet/shiraz/pinotage/merlot blend explodes with flavour, making it the ideal match for even the most charred of chargrilled bangers

bought 4 bottles (2 of Berberana Reserva Rioja 04 and 2 of the Flagstone DT 06)
for £25 -but used a discount token of £5 - cost £20 for £40 of good quality wine

Had this with lambs liver & red pepper, onion and red wine jus - sturdy enough, full of good gutsy fruit, not oversweet or tannic - good buy. Sorry no fava beans or nice little chianti here - - - this time!!!

saw Dragon Tree and Longitude on shelves at Tesco too but having previously see the majestic price on Wizzy's reviews I gave them a swerve: about £8.50 and £6.60 respectively making majestic prices look a steal (just checked majestic online and dragon tree not listed...)

The blend does vary year to year. Cab/Pinotage is standard

The new post Constellation website doesn't now list exact composition of the vintages. I think the list with percentages refers to the 05.

Not so. We bought a dozen over the weekend.

May not be on website but there's still stocks of this delicious wine: ask at your local Majestic, they can bring it from other stores if they don't have it themselves

just picked up 2 bottles at Tescos this morning when doing my breakfast shop (hopefully it'll go down well on my cornflakes...)
Was down to 4.99 a bottle. were 3 left in store, shudda picked up all 3 really as have given one of the bottles to my colleague
Fortunately I have a few majestics within driving distance so if I like it I'll see if any have it in at 3.99

Nice one Cahbod.
Have just opened my bottle this evening.

Wizzy's original description "Plenty of rich dark smoky flavour with bags of fruit" couldn't be more spot on !

A steal at 3.99 or even the 4.99 I paid.

Will be stopping off at majestic tomorrow night after work to see if they have any in or can order some in for me

Glad you guys are getting sorted. Dragon Tree is the steal
I reported this parcel on 1st August after Mel's tasting way back in May.

But no one took much notice :( too much prattle from me in between Huh !
Make hay while the sun shines - enjoy.

Pontac - how did you find the cab dominated Mary le Bow blend ? - I'm very tempted, now that you have disclosed the mix. Thanks

well, there you go. Thread drift from Dragon to MarylBow.

I haven't tasted yet the 06 Mary. I'd assumed I was getting a second case of the 05. Wasn't till I looked atthe bottles I saw different vintage/blend.

Will let you know when I do taste it. But I have great confidence in Bruce Jack and all his wines.

You're right, forum discipline is not one of my skills

Thanks for responding on the blend question for these Bruce Jack wines. I was unaware that they differed from one vintage to another.
