100% Malbec from 80 year-old vines in the Luyán de Cuyo area at 1,100m above sea level, planted at 8,000 vines/ha on sandy, loamy soils. Yield 35hl/ha. Hand-harvested, fermented at 28°C, with 4 pumpovers per day and a long, Bordeaux-style maceration (25 days). Aged in French oak for 12 months, fined with egg whites. Winemaker Herve Joyaux.
Really dark colour. Spicy smell, but also freshness. Fruity, purple and not oaked. Quite tannic. Alc 14.5%, TA 3.3g/l, pH 3.7. Available from Wine Direct and 2 branches. 15/10/2008
