70% Grenache and 30% Syrah from top-quality old-vine fruit. Mostly from vineyards at the foot of the Mont Ventoux, but some of the oldest plots are on the slopes. Traditional vinification with destemming (no yeast addition), 1 or 2 délestages, daily remontage, and pigeage thereafter, 15 day cuvaison, malolactic then 20% goes to barrels (2nd and 3rd use François Frères at differing levels of toast) for 10-12 months. Although playful in terms of label execution, the aim is always to propose a relatively serious and very rewarding wine full of Southern Rhône character.

Pale colour. Spicy oak and some baked fruit. Good, actually. The bottle age adds interest. Baked, and pretty good.

:qofgold:
Alc 14%, TA 3.4g/l, pH 3.52, RS 1.85g/l. Available from Wine Direct and 192 branches.
