The much hyped 2007 tasted of dead squirrel and old compost heap and was probably the worst sauv i've ever tried.

Apart from the 2008.

We poured most of that into the bird bath. 3 wood pigeons, 14 sparrows and a badger all died.

Some sort of giant weekend pie coming up I think...

The wine buying public neeeds protecting from such utter dross.....good grief !

But seriously, I still haven't tried these so will order some from Shezza's link along with the Petit Sancerre by the great Henri Bourgeois.

Gawd - No pressure then ! I'd better get the cheque book out if the badger throws -up next week

That Sancerre on the other side of the fence sounds interesting.

Which wine are we going to plug, to start next month off, with a bang ? There's a sublime 2008 Ugni Blanc from the Midi thats just been released

Ha, Goose ya had me going there. Was reading your write up with  look on my face !
Hope they don't turn out to have the dead squirrel and compost flavours when they turn up.
Was thinking about giving the Crossing Pinot Noir a go. Am going to a pinot tasting tomorrow tho so will see how that goes first (if I can shake off this pesky cold !! :x )

There was a new NZ SB in Tesco at the weekend, cant remember the name but it is produced by Wither Hills, or at least the name was prominent on the front label. It has been reduced to £5.99, anyone know this wine?

Are you sure it is new ?

WH, Curious Cove 2008 was offered in January, and went rather quickly. Would this be the bin end stock of Curious C in the staffs area. GK, It is not here in Berkshire.

Curious Cove by Wither Hills.

http://ccgi.quaffersoffers.co.uk/QOforu ... php?t=4319

I put up a complementary tasting note after drinking one glass around Christmas and wished I hadn't because one glass is never enough to make a judgement and the next two bottles were very astringent and heavy going.

Typical cheap Marlborough and typical Wither Hills.

I would say it needs food but it doesn't. It needs leaving on the supermarket shelf.

That said, Dunc likes it.

But he's got no class...

Mr Goose, we don't know YET, whether GK's query is Curious C or not. Having said that:

Ha, ha.....My pawn gambit to expose your knight....At the time I bought the wine it was £9.49 less 40% = £5.69. For the money, Yeah, and it was still "Pe'ttilant" being so young and sappy. I rest my case.

The Montana basic however, your favourite ! Was Nitromores, and normally only avaialble at B & Q !

Goose - To let US off the hook, I have found that there is significant batch variance with cheaper and bulk 2008 offerings. Numbered bottles may help us to isolate the dodgy tank

Worth £4.74 when 50% off . The big T web site said Vintage 2007 - Remember

Well GK, I've submitted an avatar as a photobox URL ! Probably screwed up my profile for good.

Edit;
I have wrecked my profile, I continue to be invisible.
