80-20 merlot/pinot noir

Waste of good pinot. Chile can match this with pure merlot rose for around 4 quid.

6/10 knocked down to 4/10 for the insulting price

damn, I just bought some to take to my sister's. I had:

Boschendal Rose 2007 Sainsbury 6.99

Catty smell - surely made from Sauvignon - no help from the label. Very, very good. Almost the best rose I've tasted - like a fresh new world sauvignon with half a strawberry blended into it.

Merlot roses always impress on the first half glass as they have such intense fruit but after that the sweetness kicks in and they become a bit sickly.

It's like a rich cherry/strawberry syrup trying desperately to be dry...i'll be amazed if you like this after a couples of glasses.

Do you have tasting notes for either the Domaine Begude pinot rose from Majestic or the Three Choirs English pinot rose fom Waitrose

I've just had the last glass left over from yesterday. We had only lightly chilled it so gave what was left an hour in the freezer. Gone was the sweetness and the cherry and in it's place was fabulous acidity and very dry subtle strawberry.

Not so bad a use of pinot after all.

Let this be a lesson to you all

1-Always chill your rose
2-Never listen to a Welshman
