The grapes were hand harvested from 20 year old vines beginning on the 10th September. The must underwent temperature controlled stainless steel fermentation at 18˚C for three months. No malolactic fermentation took place. 20% of the wine rested on fine lees in stainless steel tanks for three months. La Val was founded just 20 years ago but has grown to become one of the largest vineyard owners in Rìas Baixas, with over 90 hectares.
Very attractive, ripe and juicy nose. Full-flavoured with good balance. A touch of fizz. Pithy finish, but this is very moreish.

2010 was a cooler year with lower maximum temperatures and greater water availability than usual in the higher vineyards. The harvest started on the 27th August and ended on the 26th October. Harvest was later this year as rain appeared in September with slow, measured ripening. The must underwent two weeks temperature controlled fermentation in stainless steel vats at 14-16˚C. The spinning cone method was used to remove alcohol.
Not a typo – this wine is 0.5% alcohol. Nice grapefruity nose. Well, it’s sweet and fizzy and tastes of wine. Not a bad attempt. Grapey aftertaste. Excellent for lunchtime or drivers.
