A Store swap is the only remedy for you - bugger. Phone ahead, talk to the wine club guys, convince them that they need to send an email to your nominated store.

They, the Tesco Wine Club guys do try to please, and I've done store swaps myself. when it's pretty quiet.

There is some bottle variance with this JE'10

Had half of one last night, the Mises had a sip to test. The wine was less sweet than last time (ole memory), more acidity than the '09. Nothing wrong with it - actually.
For me, it was just an MSB that was quite well made and very very gooseberry, less dimension than the '07 & '08, no tropical stuff of any note, more sappy than the softer '09. There wasn't any terroir induced minerality, other than the usual, well....not that I could find, so not perceptable as a virtue.

I'm happy enough for £6 pb, £11.99 full retail is too much.

I have three St Clair's 2011 keepin cold in the fridge.

I expect them to beat the Pioneer Blocks, which I shall then declare to be overpriced tat.

But only because Maj no longer sell the nice ones.

Goose...... JE'10 is half decent on the second day, a bit too much ripe lime juice, (the gooseberry evolves quite well and responds to a good airing) the Misses agrees, but.....it's better than OK.

I'll try that St Clair basic '11, when I've drunk all my double disco stock, in the meantime, I think I'm going back to french fireside reds again for the rest of the week - these whites are getting too chilled out.....ugh I'm a bit puckered up. How you can handle MSB till it pours out of your ears ! - Lord knows.

No, Supernarkets should not be allowed to sell MSB. All supermarket wine buyers need slapping.

JE is too much money now and too erratic. A good one is just about worth it's money but a bad one is like a pithy Sainsbury TTD wine.

I will however be lured into buying the 2011 when I see it.

It doesn't say which block though. 21 and 11 are the ones which have been available in my local store recently. I tried the 21 and wasn't that impressed (in comparison to the 19) and Bob gives the 11 a lowly 80pts (19 got 93pts).

I dunno what's happened to the 6 Oh! block though.

Mine is lovely with a dense blackcurranty taste. I still say that when this turns golden it could be up there with the 07.

Debating now whether to buy 6 at Sainsbury for £11.99 less 25%.

The bottle variation makes me think I probably won't.

sampled 2011 at Decanter wine event the other week - was nice - lot greener than 2010

I bought two. The first lacked the density of the earliar bottle and was sweet but did have JE's usual flavour lurking away in the background. The second was so light it was like one of those bottled in England wines.

2010 is an odd vintage for this wine and I will buy no more.

Tesco have a new Sancerre for their in store fine wine boxes. Alain Girard 2010. It's all orange blossom and no minerality. £14.99 is poor value.

Tesco Finest Sancerre is much more correct even if the vintage ( as always ) does need changing.

Sainsbury have gone back to the 2010. Bought one. Tastes not so much of sauvignon or of Marlborough or even of the Wairau Valley but of Jackson Estate.

Went back today and bought 17 bottles for £11.99 each minus 5% standard discount.

This is just wonderful wine.

Blimey....this thread is all over the place. Folk passing by must think i'm potty. ( shush, GK, shush ). All I can in my defence is that this wine has knitted together perfectly.
