Tasted 05/07/11

Tesco Finest* Block 13 Shiraz Grenache 2008, 8.99, Tesco
Sweet baked fruit on the nose. Seems very sweet when tasted after a Gigondas. It is very sweet, like sucking a Tune.

Tesco Finest* Block 19 Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, 7.99, Tesco
Nice savoury nose. Some eucalyptus. Ripe, but with green peppers. Very nice and a fair price.

Tesco Finest* Mundulla Vineyard Shiraz 2009, 8.99, Tesco
Mmm, very appealing nose. Herbal, maybe with eucalyptus. Just exactly what you want on Aussie Shiraz. It's fresh and alive. VG.

Tim Adams Clare Valley Shiraz 2006, 12.29, Tesco
A load of oak on the nose. Very vanilla and new oaky. Baked, dark fruits. Rich and of its type.

Tesco Finest* Central Otago Pinot Noir 2009, 10.29, Tesco
Lovely, juicy NZ PN nose. Definitely fruity, rather than oaky, which is a pity. It's a just a fruity, lunchtime pinot.

Encantado by Tabali Pinot Noir Reserva 2010, 8.99, Tesco
Dark, blackcurrant fruit on the nose. Very fruit led. Blackcurrant with a hint of pinot flavour.

Bellingham The Bernard Series Syrah 2009, 9.99, Tesco
Black peppery nose. Also some oak - very inviting. Rich, ripe, savoury and very lovely.

Emiliana "O" Syrah 2010, 7.99, Tesco
Green peppery nose. Very oaky, spicy, coffee-flavoured. Quite good.

Casa Silva Gran Reserva Petit Verdot 2009, 12.99, Tesco
Green peppery nose, again. Very oaky, spicy, warm taste.

Tesco Finest* Alexander Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, 8.99, Tesco
Sweet, ripe nose with no blackcurrant or anything cabby about it. It's ok, but doesn't stand out.

Tesco Finest* Coonawarra Cabernet Heritage Release 2009, 9.99, Tesco
Very strongly green pepper and euclaytus nose. Ditto on the palate. Very strongly Coonawarra, altogether.

Tesco Finest* Carmènere 2010, 8.99, Tesco
Little on the nose. A bit wishy washy. There's nice fruit on the finish but it's strangely hollow in the middle.

Morse Code Shiraz 2009, 8.99, Tesco
Eucalyptus on the nose. Savoury, perhaps salty, taste. Nice refreshing taste. Good.
