Needed some milk so called into TEE last night and popped down the wine line.

Nothing jumped out until a single bottle on offer was left on its own.
Usual rubbish sale better than half price,

Wine in question was Gran Conti Rosso Del Molise DOC 2006
so bought it thinking its at least got some age to it,

What a lovely nose, straight forward friuty / soft tannin wine though with a nice spice finish.
Happy chap for £4.99.

My vote for a true Value wine.
 8)

I looked it up to see what it is:

Montepulciano and Aglianico grapes grown in the rolling hills of the Molise region of central Italy. The wine then achieves its 'Riserva' status following three years ageing, including time spent maturing in oak barrels and in bottle.

3 year aging and oak for a fiver - Great value if it tastes damn good as well.

Nice one Richard.

Dunc,

Popped back and got the last 05 and the last 06 vintage.
The rest were 07 so not sure on this vintage.

Saying that the 05 was also pretty good value too !! 06 just wins though.

I know what your thinking !! get the 07 and try it.
Will attempt another visit later this week maybe.

Just picked up some Clerc Milon 2002 for silly money so watching my pennies until pay day.

I love Clerc Milon - Pauillac. The '02 will be just ready for supping I spose, it's probably still climbing if you want more cedar, mahogany drawers, and cassis. '02s good / very good just to the south in Saint Julien for lesser wines than Milon. 02 Gloria was beautiful - but the pair I had are drunk now.

Good for - I dunno - couple of decades yet. You know them better than I.

Dunc,

I reckon 8-10 years should be a good time to try one.
