Slighty too heavy to get a star ( the nose suggested oak but it's a lot lighter than that )......Shezza might like ths as it has the weight of the JE 08.

I know what this reminds me of. Saint Clair Vicar's Choice 2006 from Thresher. £11.99 or £8 each for three. That had a touch more capsicum on the finish and was a little lighter in body.

Also, if there is any left, I thought the flavour improved further after 48 hrs.

No. The nose upon opening was all body and no fruit. If i'd had this in a restaraunt I would have been most unimpressed.

No idea why some of these drier MSB' are so rich these days.

They didn't used to be. Maybe the richer body counterbalances the acid that I love but many hate.

It was racy out of the fridge tonight, and I liked it.

Very late supper tonight

The pineapple has vacated and maybe my nose was disjointed by the smelly Chaumes from dordogne cheese I had festering in the fridge (amonia phenols creeping all over the shelves, but good gooey flavour, a bit acidic now).

Yes, the wine is passion fruit & limes per back label and green & red peppers as you say Mr G, and I like the remaining grapefruit pith, I don't want that to go, it marries well with the freshness and keen acidity. I finished it off rather promptly - refreshing and racy, so no 48 hour assessment possible tomorrow.

The Misses said fruitier and softer tonight, I offered her a sip of mine before she went up.

Acquitted itself very well.

Second bottle now into day three. The wine is now so light in body that it could be sauvignon flavoured water. But what gorgeous flavour and so correct for the Wairau Valley. Passion fruit/blackurrant leaves with an increasingly big green pepper hit on the end. The empty glass reeks of it.

Saint Clair still does this style better but this is so good that the Pioneer Bocks can go back to being treat wines.
