Thinking about it, around 30 of my figure are homemade wine which I have little intention of drinking.

That leaves me around 70 bottles to drink between now and next May to get down to my 150 target.

Thats 3 bottles a week for six months. Acheivable?

I have room for 50 bottles indoors plus garage which is only an option in winter.

My celler/broom cupboard is full of Loire sb's, Reserve MSB that has already survived the test of time like VM Wairau reserve and a few pale, dry pinks.

The bubbly stuff is in the garage.

No Champers though....load of nonsense.

I am building a wine storage cupboard for my reds. 54 in a rack and at a guess 80 or so upright for screwcaps.

I did a quick count of boxes. I gave up at 20 x 6 boxes realising it ain't going to be big enough. At a guess there was another 10 x 6 boxes. Add to that the 70 or so whites in the stuffed full cooler and its about the same as GK's stash.

I have about 12 bottles of homemade wine that I just can't quite bring myself to open. Some were good some time ago, but I haven't touched them for a while and I'm worried they might be :qofyuk:

Unless you regularly have guests or you are Bacchus, that'd be right on the limit for me.

I too got to about 100 once, but normally 40 - 60. Nothing for "keeping" bar 2 W Burgs, but a lot of variety. I rarely buy more than 2 the same except the occasional on-line Tesco order (6's).

The wife usually gets through two thirds of a bottle of white over the weekend, the rest I can handle. Plus the odd beer. And a glass of port. Or two.

But thats it.

I have around 400 in my cellar with a good mix of drinkable wines and ones waiting to mature.
I guess 280 red 90 white and 30 Champs.
My problem though I cant drink decent wine on my own, it doesnt seem right not sharing the enjoyment etc.
I am keen to stay under 450 as the section of cellar I have for wine wont store more without clearing the kids toys and DIY stuff.

Going home for Christmas so will take 4/5 top notch reds and some fizz.

I still want to invite everyone up in the New Year to crack open some interesting wines open, looks like March now as Jan is getting booked up and we are skiing early Feb.

Happy drinking !!
