I really did not like the '08 at all - this however is more like it. Says "2" on the back but I reckon it's 1 and-a-bit. Very greeny, aplles/pears etc. almost heading for a heavy Chab. 25% off rules O.K.?

Any Oak in that Ba ?

Of the numbers, those twerps don't understand that a chardonnay on a good vintage can produce a dry wine with a honeyed finish. Ignore the silly numbers, they are indicative for the general public - So that is all, and that is OK

The aspect that I appreciate with these 09's for the Maconaise is that they are sufficiently ripe that even growers who like to use too much oak, or enhancing additives will probably not have wrecked the balance of these wines.
I'm not suggesting that Macon chardonnay ‘09's is totally bullet proof, nor bulk grower proof, but it’s great to know that there is a big margin for error for the Co-op producers, either with oak treatment or during the various stages where a cellar master for a single domaine would normally be nuturing the wine, to bring out its best attributes in the final stage.

OK, in summary, the fruit is so reliable that élevage is almost idiot proof for bulk producers.

Keep trying them Ba, until you find a star.

Now on to Oceans 13 premier on TV, cheers for now.

My old Oak, I think nothing, ha ha. Hey Ba, I'm still a young man to my mind

Your Star and only 54p more than this. '09 vintage tis good in the d'Or. May not be as classic as '05's - Yet, a damn nice wine and affordable at the artisans level, so everyone can have a go.

I shall have to start saving for a few 1ers. I've not thought seriously since '05. but now....

Hautes Côtes de Beaune - Yes. There must be a printing error there Ba, Hautes de Beaune is not a designation I've ever heard of. It may be, that the label error was part of the bargain ? Didn't mess with the wine inside though !

Anyone ?

The wine IS HCdB - tasted it on Monday at their tasting. Notes to follow.

Tesco Finest* Hautes Côtes De Beaune 2009, Burgundy
Tesco (08/11/10) £8.99
Light Chardonnay nose, with perhaps white pepper. Interesting. Dry, with some texture, but not too oaky. Nicely refreshing acidity.
