I've had this and a few other bottles marked "should really get round to opening soon" but are generally ignored as they are likely to be way past their best.
This one finally got its chance and if you notice it is almost exactly 2 years since Mel's note
Surprisingly, this appears remarkably fresh on the nose and tongue. Although the profile has evolved such that it is unrecognisable from Mel's note.
The aroma is freshly cut limes, fresh and powerful, quite pungent. The flavour is more of the same with some pith. Its actually really good. Very tangy and the concentration is amazing considering its age. It might be just me but the pith gets a little too much after one glass, a little bitter and slightly drying. But, leave for a while, have a snack or drink something else and come back to it and it is a delight again. Fresh and juicy lime fruit with good acidity. Possibly the best Chilean Sauvignon I have tasted. Will have to try a current vintage.
