What a flop !

Bog standard tart lime and petrol. Could be a Wolf Blass basic. This wine is gorgeous for 12 months or so after bottling but then goes backwards.

For what its worth, the TA '06 Semillon is the poorest Ive had to date. I picked up four bottles last year, the two Ive had so far were quite aggressive, full-on and lacking balance. I noted that the alcohol level had rocketed up to 13.5% too, it just didnt suit the wine. Not a patch on the '04.

I will leave the other two 'bottles a couple of years before giving it another go.

That was my only bottle. I have two 04 which I am keeping until 14 to see how they will taste after 10 years as Tim Adams says at 10 years the wine is beyond wonderful.

They are being kept by a non wine guzzling friend....as i'll only drink them.

I can't be trusted

Always ready to help. I can provide storage for half-decent stuff. Cheap rates and m/c courier service available.

I sold 10 bottles of Peter Lehmann semillon 05 to a mate who likes full bodied whites for £3.00 each. Partly to clear some space but mostly because the wine just wasn't mellowing to the extent I wanted it to.

I shall nip to Sainsbury and replace with 3 bottles of that Sancerre.

Shez..you into Sancerre/Pouilly Fume or just MSB

GG, not just a MSB man

Haven't much experience with a good sancerre or pouilly Fume, but the few that I have had have been very good the times I've had em.
Pricerange always been a bit of a key factor.

Never tend to find any going for a decent offer....

I did pick up a 6 pack of the Calvet Tourraine you recommended
2 bottles down at friends BBQs so no notes taken but went down extremely well for £3.75 a bottle

Interesting....

I have a bottle of TA Riesling 2004 left - last bottle I drank a few months back was good but I agree, not as good as when a lot younger.

The semillon is very patchy. Both a friend and myself rated this as the standout wine in a wine tasting several years ago. We both bought half a dozen bottles of the 2003 which was tart and deeply unimpressive when I tried it in 2005 and 2006. It's definitely improved a lot over the past couple of years though.
