Coincidentally was in my (new) local majestic today.

There were a good few bottles of La Couronne. If you are interested in more you can see if you can get some transferred, or I can get them and ship them on.

I had asked about the Oh block 6 earlier in the week and he had said that the manager had been trying to source some at anothers request and would let me know if he found some. Unfortunately he confirmed today that his search had been fruitless.

I did pick up a couple of Vav 09 :) . I will report by the end of the weekend. They were coy about the availability but I spotted one of the boxes was 2009.

I also picked up Bourillon Dorleans 09. I'd seen you mention before that this is one of your faves. Hopefully the much hyped 09 vintage should be a good buy. Would you reccomend drinking this young or give it a little age?

Some Te Muna SB 09 to see how it compares with the delightful 08 and the last remaining bottle of Roaring Meg 08 as reccomended by the manager.

Finally Chateau Lachesnaye 2001. They had the 04 to taste, which was the only bottle and was alright (not up to Couronne standards), but my man suggested the 2001 was better. I am unsure but bought a couple of bottles as there were few left. They can go back if they are not up to scratch.

I picked up the Wine Cooler later on. Very nice, it is too 8) . He'd left it running so I could see it worked. It's bigger than I had thought. I think a capacity of 54 is conservative. I am unable to use it just yet as its location is not yet ready. It won't be long though. Thanks for finding it Duncan. I am indebted to you once again.

Do let us know whenyou try the Vavasour. I've got my eye on it after the instore tasting but want confirmation that it was as nice as I thought (even tho it was served warm)

Nice work Mr Tribs. That is an eclectic bunch of choices you were considering today

Yes please, I'd very much like some more La Couronne 2002.

If there is a 6 x box, please send to Mark the manager at Majestic in Vastern Court, Vastern Road, Reading, Berkshire. If only a few, please send to Mark anyway. Any Ch. Picard 96 or 98 there ? to accompany a split box. All gone here.

If Mark finds any Oh ! Block 6, I will arrange a few to come your way, We'll split a 6 pack box ok.

Bourillon-Dorleans 09 is wonderful vouvray for the price, I'm holding the '05 demi sec, and also 4 of the big bottle, the Moelleux on the '03, rated a 5 star vintage. This wine is made from very ripe chenin fruit that was "pourriture noble" and then dried, so that it becomes raisined to stop further botrytis from consuming the fruit altogether. This is made from their finest vineyard fruit.

Very wise move to pick some Bourillon from the ripe 09 vintage, did you pick the sec or demi sec ? It is not ready yet to my way of thinking, the complexity takes a while to develop. The demi sec wine will go on for 20 / 25 years. Moelleux longer. Do you mind holding wine ?
I will crack another '05 this month.

I believe the 2009 vintage weather conditions, and growing season may be compared to 1989 for vouvray, so it may have a lot of promise. I have not tried this wine yet.

Chateau Lachesnaye 2001 cru bougeois, please report . The '01 was an underated, yet has turned out to be a classic style vintage in the medoc, says Jancis. For me the extra ripe '03 Lachesnaye hit the spot, and I bought quite a few last year, and at the end of 2008. Mel said the '04 was a little green, with drying tanins - the 04 vintage was pretty miserable for many petite chateau Medocs. So yes, please say how this Lachesnaye has faired over the last 8 years.

Great wine cooler you have there - very smart. You could get 72 + bottles in there - double up here and there on 9 wide shelves. I knew it was tall from the scale of the ebay pic.

Good stuff. the misses should approve as well, they like smart

The Pioneer Block cuvee is a blend of 06 and 19. It was a bit warm and stinky when I had a taste. It might have been open for a few days. It could be worth trying. I now have 18 bottles of 06 and 9 SC basic but won't be buying any more of the basic as the flavours will not last long.

I have given up lesser/other NZ sauvs as they are just not as enjoyable so why bother.

I shall think of you on your wild goose chases when I open my next 06.

It might be a Condor moment. 8)

There was plenty. Alas no Picard at all.

I may open one of the Bourillon and buy some more to lay down. Seems good value. Twas the demi-sec.

Will let you know when I open them.

Not so fast Condor,

e-mail - SC Oh ! Block 6 tracked down by my local and available at 16:00 today.

Just a quick e-mail to let you know we have tracked down the St. Clair 'Oh! Block' Sauvignon Blanc you asked us to get you. All the stock for you is out the back except the Vavasour which we have tons of anyway.

Look forward to seeing you, Tom

Tribs, I've replied to Tom, asking how much he has found - do you want any sent up, and to which Maj ? IF POSSIBLE it's a long way up.

Me and my local reckon it is a good wedding breakfast follow on. Serve extra cool and save yourself a packet if over a 150 guests or so, who will be thirsty in the sunshine, on the lawn. You know the form.

I wouldn't buy it at £2.99. I'd rather buy a couple of bottles of beer.

Or a big glass of your elderflower Champers.

Anything up to a 6 box, thanks Dunc.

I have emailed them to see if they are willing to partake in our little exchange.

It's off tribs, sorry, they dont want La Couronne in exchange and your place does not have any Picard for me to pull on. So, No - I got a null as to how much the've actually found. Probably enough to satisfy a few folks.

Sorry, however it is out there. Your new branch need to look harder - trouble is, they just met you, and you have no form in that branch.

True, but I can always go back to my old branch, Stockport. Its actually closer, but through more traffic. There's probably not much in it time wise. I will see what they can do.

Mind you, I'm a little unsure why they don't want La Couronne if they know you are going to buy it, or will they not transfer less than a dozen or more?

We could always pick some up and ship on. I have some shippable boxes and the courier charges cannot be that much. I'll let you mull that one over.
