Winemaker and winery: Daniel Pi, Trapiche. Grape variety: 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Region: Tupungato, Uco Valley, Mendoza. Viticulture/Vinification: These 17 year old vines are grown in the highest vineyard area in the Mendoza area at 1450m, yielding just 10t/ha. Hand harvested in early March 2009, the grapes were bunch sorted, destemmed and cold macerated at 8C for 5 hours. The clear juice was then fermented with wild yeast and aged on lees for 6 months before filtration and bottling. Availability: 146 stores. 13.5% vol.
Lightly, fragrantly Sauvignon on the nose. Very savoury, pithy and dry. Searingly dry and begging for nuts, olives. Drink instead of Fino. 23/03/10
