Made for M&S by Jeff Grier and Anton Smal, Villiera Wines from 100% Chenin Blanc.

Cool breezes blow in from False Bay. Light, low potential soils. The grapes are hand-harvested in early morning and are gently pressed in Velo bag press, followed by cool fermentation. 40% of the wine is aged in new and used French oak for six weeks.

From October – 250 stores.
A hint of oak and pineapple on the nose. Quite nastily phenolic and bitter. Not a great taste – reminiscent of sour milk.

12.50%

Well now missus. Have just got this (09) and its SB sister. The SB I would rate along these lines...not nice. This 09 CB however is quite acceptable. A bit wimpy, but at £5.99 (25% deal) it's fine. Not up to the complexities of others (KF an example) but for a fiver...yeah OK.

Considering the distance those cool breezes have covered from False Bay to Villiera and the number of vineyards on the way that all claim the benefit of those cool breezes, those cool breezes must be out of breath :)
