Very purply red. Aha, 2009. The alcohol is just way out of kilter. Nope, not for me at all. However, Olly Smith is wearing the most beautiful shirt. It's pale grey with QO red paisley pattern all over it. I want it for napkins, or place mats, or underwear. It'd make the most beautiful underwear.

Tried this last week. It was on offer 2 for £10 a couple months back. Made by Cono Sur from grapes grown in the Colchagua Valley.

The most wonderful aroma of wild strawberries and raspberries married with the most horrid flavour. Intensely acidic with a very bitter finish. Aroma gone by day 2 and the bitter finish has reduced. Still not nice. The rest has gone down the drain.

I wish I had a pound for every time I read about someone throwing wine down the sink

To me, that’s no different to throwing money down the drain, you wouldn’t drop a fiver into a toilet and flush it, would you?

Save your receipts, stick the cork back in and take it back to the store. I have never failed to get a full refund. In fact, I’ve not once been challenged, I look forward to the day when the sales assistant chooses to taste the wine first before giving me my refund!

I will remember to try that next time.

Tribs, I wonder if Cono Sur should engage a couple of Pinot Noir consultants for the European palate. Now, who supplied them with dodgy PN root stock grafts and cuttings ? ? ?

They could do worse from paying me a fat fee, a lot worse it would appear.

Perhaps it's the wine making ? ? ? Earthquake - doubtful, otherwise the whole wine cuvee for this batch would be been an insurance claim ages ago.


I also speculate that the French oak if used, was from a green & bitter sappy batch - someone knows something !

Out of kilter in every dimension.
