Ripe on the nose. Clean, green, flavours. Not fat at all. This has a lot of texture for an unoaked wine, but with juicy fruit as well. Not bad.

Cave de Lugny, "Les Charmes" Macon Lugny 2009 Wait £8.99 (less 20% at the Mo = £7.19) in store. 19/9/2011

2009 Vintage, so ripe nose. Not so green or clean = V.ripe fruit. Quite fat, and loads of texture - as noted above - you'd def. believe it has been slightly oaked. Mature fruit in bottle now, so a bit flabby and insufficient acidity perceived in the mouth at cellar temperature, but good harmony.

Serve this wine chilled, and that revs the wine up no end. Acidity comes up, oilyness subsides, and it is much more chirpy. Not bad at all. If you buy, drink up for Autumn suppers.

Ba - you may not approve - you may find a very minor band aid ole fabric sticking plaster note before the finish

Quite a savoury nose – not ripely fruity at all. Don’t like the taste. Rather stale taste.

This wine has fallen over very quickly, as experienced and noted by Mel recently. I'd forgotten that modern Macon blanc will also do this, and then become very nasty if left on the rack for six months.

Chilling it, is clearly not going to rev it up now. So best avoided, even when on big discount.

Cave de Lugny, "Les Charmes" Macon Lugny 2011 Wait £8.99 (less 25% at = £6.79) 25/02/2013

I'd ordered the last of the 2010 vintage, but instead, the 2011 vintage was delivered. Damn

I can't recommend this '11 Macon. The flavour is confused. Too dark a simple unoaked Macon chardonnay to be elegant, not oaked, over-ripe melon with that tang, Wright's coal tar soap note, a touch of camphor. Not for me.

I explained to customer services, a refund offered on the phone.
