b- To encourage more passers by to post.

Not having much luck with b but still, time yet.

In which case, I'll consider my favourite three wines.

We said - NO RULES

This decision is more difficult this year. I would add, that the difficulty is because I have discovered quite a few more wines this year from tasting notes left by your goodselves. Without you, I would have had less enjoyment, and therefore the decisions would have been much easier.

I have consumed a very many very good wines in 2009 - The duffers could be counted on one hand, and were because I need to try some of these, to give back to the Forum, some experience of discounted / very affordable supermarket offers. You never quite know......and.......Just in case, you discover a great bargain - you have to buy, and then report back.

What does Favourites mean ?
Does it imply that one drinks this wine regularly through out the year ? Or is it a favourite, year-in-year-out, regardless of vintage characteristics.
Or perhaps, are these the wines that we may try and find, if we knew a huge meteorite was on target to collide with the Earth, and therefore bring an abrupt end to our enjoyment .........

Favourites can also be wines enjoyed as a dinner party guest with close friends ? Wines that we could not normally afford now, because they were bought when affordable fine wine prices, or en primeur prices were 60% less comparatively, than they are today.

OK - Favourites consumed in 2009

Stunning clarets with close friends - and were just affordable when bought en primeur;
Bahans Haut Brion 1998
Carruades de Lafite 1996 **

The following wines either acquired before 2008 or at the height of the credit crunch. None of these were above £23 per bottle, some were £19.99 bin end clearance. The Chassagne is the only white.

Chassagne Montrachet 1er 2000 - Gagnard
Gevrey Chambertin 1er 1999 - Pascal Lachaux **
Beaune, Champimots 1er 2003 - Chanson
Beaune, Teurons 1er 2004 - Chanson
CNdP Clos d'Oratoire 2001 * in stock for a long time
Nuits Saint Georges 1er 'Les Poulettes' 2003 - Gachot Monot

Budget Favourites: (less than £10 bar one)

Clos Toulmin 2003 Bourgogne Ordinaire rouge.
Fleurie, Dom des Nugues 2007
Jackson Estate MSB 2007 ** for a regular favourite & value
The Reach MSB (Vavasour) 2007
Sancerre Dom de Perierre 2007 - £11
CdR Chartreuse Reserve de Bonpas 2007 rouge * only £4.50 when scoring right
Cabriere Estate - Haut Cabriere Pinot Noir 2005 - SA import

Sparkling / Shampoo:
Taittinger Nocturne NV (in stock for 4 years) **
Pol Roger NV - thought to be 2005 fruit
Pelorus 2004

Vintage Port:
Royal Oporto 1983 (last one, the peppery dimension did come 24 hours later)
Sweet:
Chateau Theulet 1997 - Monbazillac

Dudds or diabolical:
Chablis 2008 - Bouchard Aine'
Claret - Signeur d'Albert 2006 - Yvon Mau
Red - Kumala Cape Classics Red - truly diabolical - The Worst in 2009 not bought by me, or by a friend.

Yes, I have enjoyed some super petite chateau clarets this year, mostly from stock bought in france. One such example being Chat La Cour d'Ouette 2003 Pauillac - a tiny 6 hectares property (gold concours de bordeaux vins Aquitaine) about 12 euro - Oh yes, just enough to stock only two mega Tescos for a while. We will never taste fab petite chateaux claret whilst the supermarkets in the UK insist on stocking the planet with the same label - In france it is all regional stocking.

Both working today, I have my own office. Then my grandson for supper, whilst the young ones went out.

Me, I enjoyed a break, it did take a while avoiding spelling errors, yet enjoyed recalling the memorable ones.
I also like to take a pop at the supermarkets  Excluding Majestic of course
Clearly boring - I'll remove the list once the clan have knocked it about.
