Boys, it's wonderful. So 5* and unlike our normal life. Just finished breakfast buffet. Fred finished with baked beans and black olives. I had eggs benedict and finished with a strange white roll of something of rice origin, with soy sauce. Felt I ought to try.

We have privileges which include happy hour cocktails. The only wines are a red and white Cono Sur, which is disappointing, but with large list of cocktails to work through I can leave them. I may not drink any wine at all this week.

Last night went to the Super Lucky Seafood Restaurant, which we chose just for the name, the lack of tourists and the queue outside. English tricky, but there were a handful of pictures on the menu. Bacchus would have been uncomfortable. There were a lot of dodgy looking things passing us. Just drank chinese tea as no sign of wine list and it seemed pointless since we'd done fairly well with the cocktail hour.

Wide awake between 2 and 4, so watched Lost in Translation, for the second time.

Just logged in to catch pt 2 of Cherchez la Femme and then off to street markets.

What's the weather like?

20 degrees, so April/May home temps. Fairly sunny. Swam outside twice, so nice, but certainly not sunbathing weather.

I've been very lucky, just one Sat/Sun small fall.

I could do with a swim in the sea I love swimming in the Med, just floating around, effortless back stroke, sheer luxury, sculling around viewing the sky, or distant Cliffs and mountains. I find the extra SG of the Med so incedibly relaxing - I dislike chlorine in my eyes and in my ears.

Never swum in the South China Sea ? What's it like ....

As for the snow, folks taking half the night to get home. Bucks, Berks and north Hampshire.

I have never seen so much here, just north of the river, there is up to 6-7 inches piled up in places on the road outside - cul de sac. In the back garden, just like a Christmas card, everything is white. All white side streets, gleaming, very crystal., hasnt thawed since last Thursday !

Overhead Telephone lines down in some places, we have old post & pre-war poles here. At the top of the road, lines were down from the weight of ice and snow that had hung like spears.

The kids love it for 30 minutes - Then get cold .....Burrhghhurrrr

The snow is not wet, so in theory, skiing is possible on the north downs, if the fields have not been ploughed. Having said that, drove thru Oxfordshire to Banbury on Sunday, and very little snow on the slopes.

Hong Kong - well, could be another planet, if you were to compare your location to here at the mo.

In fact I am uncomfortable east of Membury. East of Vienna is unthinkable.
As for a restaurant in HK...would have to be in a straight-jacket and tranquilised.

Swimming in pool, not sea. Victoria Harbour one of biggest shipping areas in world and so not ideal for backstroke. Hazy, sunny morning, with blue sky above. Summer clothes, bare legs, etc.

Had fitting for 3/4 length very dark velvet jacket, with military buttons yesterday and son for suit and shirts. Also whole family had foot massage at same time in shady backstreet hovel.

WR - had Elderton Shiraz/Cab in hotel bar last night. Nice, but rather young and fruity. Only serious wine drunk so far. Walls of bar made of v shiny shelves with posh wine bottles (sans vin). We sat next to 1986 d'Yquem.

Nice to hear of seasonal chaos at home and snowy back gardens.
