while on the discussion of Cali offferings. Has anyone give any Mondavi offerings a go?

Personally have only tried the Woodbridge Chard some time in the distant past and wasn't overly impressed as have never seen reason to return to it.
Don't think there was much about it disimilar to the E&J Coastal Chardonnay.

Havent tried a Mondavi wine for some time.

Coincidently, I was tidying a book shelf over the weekend and came across my copy of Mondovino, anyone seen this film? Interesting in parts.

Didn't know that it was a film as such. Saw it on telly. Very interesting and enjoyable.

I opened the '06 Cabernet last night, much better.

A rather serious, grown up cab, subdued fruit (possibly fading) but showing signs of depth. Coffee, leather, blackcurrant, nice tannins (smooth, waxy texture) mature tasting. Not sure this will benefit from further aging, and there was a dull dryness to the finish but interesting and worth the £3.33 paid.

Exactly

The reserve Napa is beautiful, the one with the torn at an angle label. (super label parchment picture) Lovely cedary cab. Gets close to top Berringer.

One afternoon me and my mates, did an 82 Giscours, an 80 Tahbilk cab and an 85 Napa cab Mondavi. all at over 10 years.

The Giscours only won for me, cos it was dirty. We were all in the dosh then.
