Actually, just one glass of red with yesterdays Sunday lunch, early night, solid eight hours sleep, wolves beat spurs, there's a spring in my step today.....

What is it with grown women, and baby male voices ? Is this a nursing gene ? Was sorry when I heard that Paul Mac was on. I heard that pop singer with the lovely deeper voice from a distance - she's nice.

Better get back to business.

I have decided what my wines will be for the big day...

Red: Monasterio de Tentudia ’97, Extremadura (Tempranillo)
White: Domaine Jean-Claude Martin, Chablis ‘08
Port: Warre’s LBV ‘92
Beer: Quick pint down the local at lunchtime, usually Landlord or Abbott.

How are LBV's keeping from good producers ?

If I may - Would appreciate, advice and also, the all important experience.

Went thru host's port, a nice and manageable collection, and a (handsome magnum in there) on Sunday morning - I would like to be relatively sure. I believe that crusted and LBV have been going thru a step up in keeping ability in recent decades ?

Anyone ?

Dunc, you could look for undeclared years where it was a close call, the wine is then used for the LBV’s, (bottled after four years).

Warre’s traditional unfiltered LBV is considered to be one of the best LBV’s out there and the ’92 the best again. I was very lucky to find a bunch of the ’92 & the very good ’95 on offer once, cleared the shelf. This will be my last ’92, I don’t expect to ever see it again. Had one last year and it was singing but I don’t think it will go another 5+ years, I’ll never know!

’97 is another excellent year for LBV, look for Noval & Ramos Pinto. Grahams Crusted is excellent too. If you plan to lay some down seek out the unfiltered / tradition LBV’s, they are closer to the vintage stuff and better for keeping.
