Mel,

Nothing there to tempt me !! went in to my local store when the last sale was on.

One word would sum up there wines "shocking" cant comment on other stores around the country though.

Bolly at TEE at £17.95 is the true bargain for fizz though.

Richard

The TTD Cava at under £4.50 seems like a good deal to me.

It's not just those wines, but everything. I know, we've got over the Sainsbury's thing, but there may be some readers who missed it last time.

I agree with Mel - you pic them VERY carefully.

eg: Clos de L'Oratoire cndp 2007 was £18.99 less special Xmas offer £5.00 = £13.99 less 25% = £10.49

£10.49 for this wine, and on a lush vintage for CNDP - is unheard of. Not for a decade +, have we seen that price for this one.

Mel, you are a star :)

Based on my observations last time, and sleepy price / offer adjustments in huge stores, plus left overs ...........
Get to the right store and you may just find some Clifford Bay 2008 at the back of fine racks for £6.74 yes £6.74 at the till.
I bagged a few when £13.99 less £5.00 clearance - but NOT less 25% on top at the time - What more can I say.

We just dont know if they have - fixed those £5 off jobbies yet in their data base, but they say, inclusive of existing discounts applying

Mmm, a big, ripe CNdP from a decent year, now you're talking. :D

As with all offers, you need to hunt out the true bargains. Sainsburys have their fare share too.

Now look, MrD.

At my Sainsbury which is closed til Friday there is no Clifford Bay let alone Clifford Bay for £6.74 at the till.

Now stop....just stop...or you'll have me in tears.

Rich, you'd better hurry along, none in Morrisons down here. All gone, Berks folk are a savvy lot.
The Misses went looking as well, when passing another of their stores.

Duncan,

You are right only managed two bottles so far.

I call in on my way to work each morning to check and only the Lanson is avaialble, not seen any Moet yet at all !!!

Just taken delivery though of 2 cases of mixed wines from a merchant for Christmas.
A couple of CDP 2000 and two std CDR 2005, plus my favourite German producer to top up as I am running low now.
Also got the last Calon Segur 1995 he had at a silly price so very happy.

Anyone know of any deals on 1996 fizz though need 1/2 bottles this side of Christmas ??

Had my best wine so far this year on Saturday night with a new wine friend
Leoville Barton 1981, it just blew me away Fantastic youth Great nose and Amazing length !!! Could drink this every night !! 94/100 or 5 Stars cant find any symbols to add ??

Cheers
Richard

quite an impressive haul there Rich !

Sounds like you're lucky enough to be able to get your hands on some of these more mature wines at a reasonable price.

I might have to try and build a relationship up with my local merchant.

Don't think his selection or price is quite as impressive tho unfortunately

Shezza,

Hi, happy to rec a few merchants in the UK most are happy to ship wine to you where ever you live though.

I use 3/4 merchants unless a good deal or a wine I am searching for especially for an offliner.

Regards
Richard

Nice haul Rich.

1996 halves, you sure ? if not RD, they could be half gone. Halves don't keep so good at the affordable end of shampoo.

Blimey, you're picking the best shampoo vintage since the WW11 War ?

Any reason for this Rich ?

Bacchus - no, the Limited Release idea is new to me. I have no notes of Ltd Rel from Sains. Very limited.

There are many of these "limited release" now. Appeared out of nowhere. Will they replace Ttd perhaps? The Riesling is '09 Clare Valley and is scheduled for tonight.
