i recently tried the latest cork alternative, which is called a Zork. if you imagine a plastic version of a fortified wine cork i.e., it's approx T shaped and you can pull it out with your fingers.
however, the marketing of this alternative is centred around the consumer's need for a "pop" noise. i'm sorry, but are you lot driven by this need? it seems to belittle your intelligence. apparently, you feel a stelvin (or screwcap - stelvin being the trade name) is cheap and nasty and therefore the wine must also be c&n.
the Zork has a tag of extra plastic that you rip off first for security reasons and the Zork can be plugged back in when you've had enough to drink. we turned the bottle upside down and the Zork didn't fall out.
also, which is vital, it did make a pop noise after some practice at flamboyant extraction. that's a relief, isn't it?
