See my notes on the Home page from last week at Sainsbury's. You'll notice there aren't many pictures ie only a small number of interesting wines. In a tasting of about 100 wines there were six that I hadn't tasted before. A bit of tidying up going on in the range. Not to our advantage, but the accountants will be pleased.

What did you get from sains Bacchus?
I'm tempted to buy some condado del Haza reduced to £15 + 25% off
Not sure what else to look at. I Couldn't tell you the last time I bought a sains ttd wine (tho their rioja crianza if pretty nice actually)

TtD...Languedoc, Soave Classico, Chilean SB, Touraine & Gavi. All good value when on 25% and all consistent year on year.

Thanks BA
I had picked up the last 3 condado's in store and had to go ask a Sainsburys employee to open a palete containing Canti prosecco (2 for £12) as the shelf was empty
Wasn't sure what to get for the 6th bottle. Had looked at the other proseccos on offer (TtD and 789) but you drew my attn to the codorniu so I went for that instead

Yeah, Sainsbury's do love their empty facings. Not just eau de bouze either.

A number of wines given thumbs up by Mel and others are on double discount- TtD languedoc White,Baron de Vinas Rioja,Elegant Frog Viognier,CepaAlegro Rioja.
It seems also if you make a purchase they will give a till voucher e.g.£3 off a £30 shop.

Goose/Duncan,
my large Sainsburys has the Villa Maria reserve Clifford Bay 2013 reduced from £14 to £11.50. Should I buy any?

I bought a couple of bottles of the VM Clifford Bay as my memory of it was good. I also think the Elegant Frog Viognier is a great little buy. Recommending it tonight on BBC Radio Glos and also on Birds with Bottle. My favourite Sains white is the Bellingham Bernard Series Roussanne, but I do like a rich, ripe, oaky white from time to time.

Also recommending the Sancerre Rouge, although it will only suit those who like light reds with that French feeling.

mel, mel, mel....
Now I'm gonna have to give the roussane a go too! I did notice it in store next to the Clifford Bay. It's currently down to £8 so I'll have to give it a go for £6

I'll probably pick up some of the TtD prosecco too as Mrs Shez likes it

6x VMBC worked out at £8.60 a bottle which seems a decent discount from £14 rrp. Tho majestic have it down to £10.50 or so at the moment

Picked up two Bellingham Bernard Roussanne on Mel's say so (along with other good reviews online)

6x TtD Prosecco for Patsy (although she's just said she's cutting back on drinking again to keep slim for weddings this summer)
