Hi Mr G,

Have you got shares in Walmart international, or a connection with a community blogger in the Asda Bridgend greenroom ?

G, I agree that the sauvignon blanc offering is a broad range of styles, But, both Crochet's wines may be too old/tired for you. 2011 will be cabbage water (your observation) as you have declared, and the '12, pretty diluted after a good soaking. For £15 a piece, not so clever. This is not like You. . . . .

I think Sainsbury's offerings from Mollet, that you brought to my attention on the 25% discount thread, the PF antique at £12.75 and the 2013 Sancerre d'Abbaye at £12 this week is a better deal. I also acquired the Brancott letter B for £9.56 from Waitrose, so Asda prices are keen at the basic level, but the MSB's that we may want, seem to be strong money this week. Good reports for the Touraine 2013 Harvest, so the '11 PF at £15 could be a mistake - one predicts an Asda clearance.

You can get a singles mix from Waitrose, Ocado and Sains, but delivery is not always free. So pick the crop when the deals are running.

Thanks for the link, I must check-out the Rieslings - Cheers

If I had to award a gold medal to Asda's best in store wine it would be a toss up between the EJ Gallo white grenache and a can of Sprite.

So I was pleasantly surprised by their mix n match list...tis all.

The Brancott is probably a bit full for my taste. The VM is cheaper elsewhere But the Paratei is very highly regarded and fairly priced and the Lucien Crochet's are both very highly rated on Celler Tracker.

I am not buying though. I just thought Asda deserved a pat on the back for having a wine list worth looking at.

Looking is fine. Purchasing is a whole new kettle of ball games. Some of the stuff is much cheaper elsewhere.
