So I couldn't resist a trip to my Tesco stores tonight (midnight shop once my wife had gone to bed as I'd get in trouble for buying any more wine)

Lots of tempting choices and I was was about to go for Trapiche Broquel Bonarda which is at a clearance price of £7.17 (from £11.99) -25% if I bought 6, when I happened to see Villa Maria Reserve Pinot Noir reduced from £17.99 to £11.99. This is also available on TWbtC site at this price but doesn't qualify for the 25% off 2 cases unlike in store where the extra discount brought the price to a bargain £8.99 a bottle.
all 11 bottles on the shelf went into my trolly along with 6 bottles of dessert semillon @ £6.79 - 25% = £5.09. For some reason I've been seeing this in other stores and online for £13.99 recently!

Very happy for now but even though I shouldn't , I no doubt will end up making another trip next week before the offer ends

Very Nice haul Shez,

Are you able to compare, or comment on the difference in quality between the Villa Maria reserve pinot noir 2011 versus the Brancott T Terraces 2011 pinot noir. Also, if you know them well, knowing you've bought T Terraces on BuyaPower, which comes over as the more classic ? Do you have a preference for vintage on these, and knowing I like the style and mouth feel of affordable Cotes de Nuits villages 2009 particularly.

I am able to get the T Terraces from Ocado for £10 with a voucher.....I can also get the Chorey les Beaune '11 for the same money.

You have at least 425 or so in stock now :)

talking pinot noir
I was very sorry to have missed the Joseph Drouhin 2009 Gevrey for laying down that Waitrose had on for £18.74 net, the offer was OOS onlne when I discovered it. I've never seen this wine in a Berkshire store. I know that's bigger money - but you get a 5 star vintage from a classic producer.

I'm no expert on these wines but the VM I believe should be the better wine based on reviews I've read but it'll be nice to try them side by side. Ideally I'd like to hold in to the for a few years before sampling but as these NZ pintos present themselves well when young I'll try to have a go sooner rather than later
I've been drinking the Drouhin Chorey 2007 just yesterday. Light and feminine fruit with a bit more masculinity at the end when the oak presents itself (far from excessively)
Hard to say which is the better option. I somehow thing you'd prefer the classic beaune but the brancott should present itself well.

The waitrose in canary wharf has this on 2011 vintage (I think). I'm not sure how well this would compare to 2009 though.

Yup, me too.
Got 6 in one store yesterday and 6 in a country store today.
The military opened up Imber village on Salisbury Plain and some bikers went. Got petrol and wine on way home.
