Poor wine and awful value for money. Dry, sharp and quite rich due to lees contact. JE have completely lost faith in the quality of their grapes. There is a strong blackcurrant flavour running through it but this is poor winemaking.

Blimey !

What a rude tasting note.

I quite enjoyed bottle 2. ( £9.49 at Waitrose ) Light/medium bodied, lightly acidic. Not exactly silken textured but the acid adds to the enjoyment rather than detracts. Very subtle flavour of blackcurrant. So subtle it's more Touraine than Wairau but there's potential here.

Nice. 87

I'd never write-off an objectionable comment about a producer that we have hitherto respected  It wasn't more rude that nor..m.....

So there is some evidence that a reputable producer will / could make a good wine from the Marlborough 2013 SB harvest. I was beginning to doubt the reports !

cheers for this.

Bottle no 3. Dry, light- medium bodied with pungent blackcurrant that can handle chilling This is good. Lacks the complexity of the 2007 ( no acorn ) but it's only 5 months old. ( bottled in September )

89 as it stands but give this one time.

Going backwards.

Dilute nose. Light bodied with surprisingly pungent lemon with splash of lime citrus flavour. Think bog standard Chile.

14 months bottle age.

Dry, lightly acidic, nose of blackcurrant and smoky acorn ( JE at it's best ). The blackcurrant comes through on the taste but not the acorn. Still, this is very good as it is but needs chilling to be at it's most JE like.

In 3 months this will blossom.
