Identical to the Cono Sur 20 Barrels SB which is £14 at Tesco. Concentrated flavour with lowish acidity makes for a lovely decadent sb. No oak and the 13.5 alc doesn't show but it's rich from the concentrated flavour.

Don't know how long the price will last.

Buy it...you'll all love this.

Normally when I change my opinion of a wine I take away the star. I won't this time as this is what £12 Leyda Valley sb tastes like so i'll keep the star for those who love the style.

As the wine chills the alcohol starts to enrich the body and counter balances the flavour.

Hard work in the end.

Had to snaffle a couple at that price. Good looking bottle and label.
I prefer this a bit warmer than some others. Cold is a bit acidic, sharp, pear droppy.
Herby aroma and taste. Wasn't too keen on first swig but it grew on me. Yeah, quite acceptable - especially at £6

Mr G, That £6 Asda price was astonishing. However, in for a quid or so, and to explore Leyda a drop more, and .......

Armed with that advice, I topped up my claret order at Ocado to get the delivery charges down, and bought a pair of the LFE Gran reserva "Seleccion de Familia "on the 2011, hoping to get a notch up on the '12 basic. So, for £7.64 I get the GR with the double disco.

Here's hoping

I dumped the Luis Felipe Savignon blanc idea, and pounced on the 2010 Sancerre from Waitrose at less 25%. Wise move - more money

2010 Sancerre wines are getting thin on the ground, and potentially great on the palate.

More on LFE Leyda and Chilean SB:-

BTW, Mel was awarding the Decanter Stars with one other MW this time last year for Chilean SB, mid June 2012. They were not particularly taken with this LFE gran reserva '11 at 14.88 points. All said drink by end 2012

For Chilean SB fans - The Quintay, a small producer scored the highest mark of 17.00 for wines readily available in the UK. Waitrose currently have this wine in stock. £11.99 less 25% = £8.99 this week.
Well done Waitrose, cheers Mel.
