After several pangs, I made it through the evening as well. The 3rd pull on my desire was the worst, this, shortly after 10pm when the News came up on the box. I fended that off - dumped the wretched ITV hyped-up, grossly exagerated News "show" and went off to do more work on my client's accounts. We are all obliged to file by the last Tuesday this month.

Work and deadlines help me.

I'm currently trying to not drink at home monday - thursday.
my job involves entertaining at times so I'm permitting myself to drink if out but otherwise I'm trying not to drink for those 4 days if I can.
Last night I attended a 2010 burg en prim tasting so already max'd my weekly intake and have another to attend on Thursday

Yes, I've been invited twice to do en prem at Mentzendorff. A truely brilliant way of enjoying an evening. When I retire completely, with more time for pleasure, I'll not have the income for the post event indulgence - It's a bitch, this gradual deterioration business: Tell me about them Shez, then I may lap-them-up in my mind

I could say bye, bye bye to ole Blighty though, enjoy tax free wines in sunny climes................

No wine or beer consumed !! crumbs cant remember the last time I went 48 hours without a glass of something.

Might try and break all records tonight.

I opened a bottle last night, Bio Bio PN, light and fresh, a touch too dry and thin for my liking, prefer my Chilean PN a degree sweeter.

That was the first since Saturday evening. Swimming tonight, will finish the bottle when I get home.

I am constantly disappointed with these celebrity types - I just dunno why I'm so naive ? The Tesco local is just up the Henley Rd from here. I use the so called "posh riverside store" to try and find fine wine clearance, it's rarely there though, Someone may have made off with it ! . Actually, the National Rags are completely wrong about the store's location, which is down an access road to a small office and car franchise estate - Duh !

The media fuels this tosh. According to the local bobbies, various cheese and wines were trolley'd-out on 5 occasions during the Christmas Holidays - CCTV on the self service area is recent "they said", one speculates that the practice is not a new medical condition, for the 000's who do this for a living

I remember when Oz Clarke was at the house on telly doing wine and food, it appeared to take half an hour to walk the grounds of the place ! May be that country manor was on appro ?

Am not drinking during the week (apart from external tastings) for January. Sunday night counts as the week.

No, Ba, am not creating "external tastings" in my greenhouse.

Also, no butter, no visible fat on meat and no carbs after 6.30. Cycling every morning before breakfast. Am loving it.

A lovely wine from Argentina made by an Italian using Barbera grapes ??
