GK .........................What I know, AND what I've drunk this Summer
The Dom Servin 1er Vaillons was as fresh as a daisy. I shouldn't have spoilt myself so soon - No -
yes I damn well should
I work damn hard to run my tiny business.
The Chateau de Ligny was losing it's impudence of youth and delicacy - but then for double disco, and at a fiver - Drink up. The suphuric one from big T was a non starter - you remermber ?
The Wine Gang say Tescos finest 1er vaillons on the 08 has longish legs, and worth the extra dosh. The 2007 TF 1er has longer legs, I think. A very full style indeed, so it's not going to suffer by dropping some fat.
The M&S Dom Pierre de Prehy 2008 was not as zingy in June as it was in February, but then, I was drinking it at a cellar temperature. Prehy likes it cool
The Maj Brocard 2008, the basic model, was absolutely fine in June, I've not got any in stock now.
The Laithwaites, Dom Long-Depaquit Chablis 2008, the basic model was drinking good "the same as" in May. Tony's mob says drink-up by July 2012.
Your storage is cooler now that the Summer has gone - So drink the ones you remebered as a tad fragile and see what has transpired ? drink though in the run up to Easter 2012, then clear the firmer ones by the end of the Summer 2012 unless they are 1er standard. Full ones will hold longer, 10% oak fermented ones also - we know that. The last thing you want to do is bugger the delicate ones in next year's flaming June (if we get such a thing )- unless you can keep them at under 15C or so.
Tricky - letting rip is bloody nice......... until you survey your depleted stock and then look at 2011/12 prices
