Poor Mozzy's.

I always thought their own-label produce was poor quality, looks like that extends to their wines too.

Im surprised you found the Ara Pathway '09 so unpleasant, the first vintage ('08 ) was warmly received and comments online suggest the '09 is better. I liked it for its easy-going freshness, a restrained style of MSB. The 2010 is supposed to be the best yet according to the recent Decanter mag.

Each to their own I guess.

You were most polite, and rather kind as every perfect guest should be.

Your poor ole tongue and gums after all that lot.

The 4 euro '09 clarets in Carrefour are good - so sticking duty and another label on, is not going to spoil them.

On the plus side, it seems there are a few decent offerings.

The Petit Chablis and the Crux MSB got a star.

The Claret, Chianti and Beaujolais were good value.

And the Best Aussie Shiraz is worth grabbing when on offer.

I guess there was nothing that was truly exciting and too many that were plain awful.

"The Best" , it sounds a bit naff compared to "Finest", "Xtra Special" and "Taste the Difference", doesn't it? :D

My neighbours rabbit leapt over the fence again and dug up half my lettuces

It's like Carl Lewis, that bloody thing. Or a ninja

Wife came home with a bottle of Crux 2010 last night.

As for the rabbit, these are great deterrents.

The wretched thing has a name tag on it though.

Chicken wire does deter domestic rabbits though, and keeps the pigeons off your seedlings. Rolls of this are cheap. Unroll the wire to length and bend it to form an arch over the row. Bend down at each end and fix to the ground with small fruit tree sticks and any hard prunings. leave the side shoots on the sticks, otherwise the wire just rides up, and the pests can get underneath.

Where the animal jumps over the fence, dose-up some left-over salad leaves left on a piece of cardboard with hidden hot chilli powder on the underside of the leaves.

I have made 4 visits to Morrisons.

1. Many years ago at a grand opening and bought 6 bottles all at really silly bargain prices.

2. Different branch, wall of noise. Had to leave even with earplugs.

3. Hardly got foot in door when assailed by Mother Care bouncer. Demanded I remove helmet. I hadn't even got my gloves off in order to remove specs thence to remove helmet. I gave him a filthy look, a snide comment and continued undressing whilst shuffling onwards. He ran round in front of me grabbed the trolley and demanded that I leave - so I did.

4. (and last) Went into flagship store today (purpose built new by Safeway). Got 6 bottles, went to self-service thingy. Had to wait quite a while b4 staff arrived to tell it I was 18+. Then I asked why I hadn't has a disco for 6 - told there was none.
Then I couldn't get the thing to take my money. Staff returned and demanded that I tell it if I wanted cashback. I left the bottles and left the store.
Nightmare chain. End.

Thanks for the tips, Duncan. I am actually working out of pots until the garden is complete. The decking frame is complete and boards are going down slowly but surely. Its hard to find the time during the week with work and the kids and the weather has been pants at the weekend as it will be again this one.

This morning the ninja rabbit had returned to finish the rest of the lettuce. I have no Cos lettuce left now. All the little gem and tom thumb are gone. Only Salad Bowl remains.

I had boarded up the corner where he was getting through (still 5 ft high though) and he can't get through there as he tried when I chased him away. He must have another point of entry.

Anyone fancy rabbit pie?
