My local has a big shelf with bright & bold signs to advertise their "MANAGER'S CHOICE"

The current offerings:
Hardy's Crest Chard/Sauv & HC Cab/Shiraz at the full price of £9.99

Hope no one gets suckered in to buying these, only saving grace is that it's less likely to happen as it's not flashing Special offer discount price

we all know this is on "offer" at half price a large part of the year, hopefully the rest of Sainsbury's customers do too

Ask to speak to the manager and kindly request he/she gives you a full description of the wines character and flavour.

Was speaking to one of the managers of one of the supermarkets, a while ago, and he said that if he put a red label on the shelf edge, just saying the price, and not showing a reduction, then the wine shifted at a ridiculous rate.

I expect Sains have found that calling it Manager's Choice does the same. Incidentally, where's the apostrophe in Manager's. It could include the Financial Manager, the Getting Rid of Surplus Stock Manager and the Let's Play with the Punters Manager.

My first Sainsbury'''''s on line order arrived today. Was a load of beer on a '2 for' offer.
Seems that the offer had expired at midnight and they had whacked the bill up to the full price. It all went back.

 What a waste of time.

Waitrose have the same thing (and have for some time) with their "Buyers Choice"

So...
They've wasted the driver's time and the delivery costs. Had to do all the admin for a refund. Wasted all the man hours etc to return all this beer to the warehouse and admin to process that. They have also lost a £50+ sale plus it's unlikely that I shall use them again.
Sillly huh?

The driver did make two calls to the gnomes, but to no avail.

Just to round off a brilliant episode, Tesco turned up within a 2-hour slot with only 12 of the 72 bottles that I had ordered (the rest were OOS). I had been 'held' whilst ordering from their website whilst they checked that my store had the goods !!

That went back as well.

Buy wine from a local merchant !! he will deliver when it suits you if ordering 72 bottles.

I struggle to buy one bottle when I pop in for milk/bread.

Co-op are pretty good compared with Sains/TEE pop in there if budget wines are needed the Cline 2005 is a cracker.
