Sounds dodgy doesn't it. Posh name but no producer. No need to buy this wine just open the screwcap in the shop and smell the beautiful aromatic minerality that is Sancerre.

But not this one....no smell here...not a diddly bleedin' squat. No smell = no taste.

That's the sauvignon law !

When the big T halve the price of this wine as a Christmas gift to you all, please show them the respect that they are showing you...

...don't buy it !

Surely this wine is too complex to give off an immediate aroma?

It needs decanting several times and leaving in the shed for two days to naturally chill.

Retrieve it, allow it to thaw and watch it bloom. They're giving it away at that price.

Vincent Pinard

Vincent and Cosette Pinard’s 15 hectare Domaine extends over steep limestone slopes around Bué. The excessively low yields, hand harvesting and modern winery, complete with temperature controlled vats, result in enticing, aromatic and intense wines. The new oak barrels are reserved for the Nuance, and Harmonie cuvées, together with the delicious Charlouise red. The former is from a vineyard called Le Château and is fermented and aged in one- to two-year-old wood, the latter is a supremely balanced and fine Vieilles Vignes blend fermented in new oak. Vincent’s impressive portfolio is not confined to Sauvignon Blanc either – he owns 3.5 hectares of Pinot Noir which he matures in barrel for a year before bottling and labelling it Charlouise.

No to be confused then ?

My guess is that it'll be a fiver at Christmas and it'll fly.....

Jane McGreenfly will do a review and say it's fine for a fiver. Olly Phant will say it's a bargain wine from a great region and Tesco shareholders will get another thruppence on their divi.

Meanwhile, the reputation of Sancerre will plummet further and the long term winners will be the mega brands like Jakob's Tat E & J Twaddle who will benefit as nobody will actually like the wine and will revert back to their fav brands.

Humbug !

Nah.

Good Sancerre will become sidelined to the fine wine stores and cost £50/bottle.

The French will cop hold of the village stuff for hard cash, a penthouse full of chinese steel magnates will pay millions for the good stuff; The Belgians, but typically UK EU Ministers on permanent holidays, will drink dross, that'll make them even more senseless.

What are you left with ?
