The Zork sparkling wine stopper, anybody come across one yet?

They've been around for years, but I've not seen one on a wine in the UK. The early ones were much bulkier, the new ones ar emuch better..


HOWEVER

The prime selling point of ZORKs is that they make a POP noise when extracted because that supposedly what people like about a cork.

I thought that stupid when I first came across them!

A benefit over screw caps though is there is no doubt whether a Zork has been removed.

You sampled any of your 2005 Laying down clarets yet ? - Just to see how they are progressing.

I've been checking a few.

The Saint Emilion grand cru's from a proper small grower, not Classe GC mind, have wonderful acidity and a great tannic streak with a touch of black pepper corn grouts, that is not in the least puckering, au contraire mon amie, as well as depth with real class to the fruit. Yeah, the £15 wines, bought properly, taste like classed growths in an ordinary year.

Beautiful. AND.....Lovely as a post dinner treat by the fire as well.

I'm about ready for an '03 Saint Estephe CB very very soon - De Pez, should sort me out. The big guns rubbished '03...Duh... well that's their pomposity ! And now they like them from the northern peninsular. De Pez now given the CB exceptionelles status - they must have tasted the wine on a riper year - when ready.

Misread the initial post. No I have not come across a sparkling wine closed with a Zork, and I haven't seen a Zork closed wine in the UK but I've had Zork closed still wines in NZ

Had seven this year, all petit Chx, couple of La Tour St Bonnet rest from TWS case.

Hard keeping Bdx. Whenever I ask Mrs Pontac what she wants with Sunday roast she always replies 'a decent Bordeaux' and doesn't seem at all keen on sampling something from Czech Republic or Texas.

Let her see the label.

I've never seen a Zork but I've noticed the small (35cl?) Champers bottles often have plastic fake cork and cage with a screwcap underneath.

Yes, had many of those in business class on various short haul flights.

They're 187.5ml I think. 37.5cl is a half bottle and they use proper Champagne corks
