Hi bankie, you are not far from me.

BTW, if you read the website in Mel's link its instructs you to enter the promo code 4MG to get the discount, which does work.

I just ordered one. Hello Mr. Bank, darn 2 Mr Bs now.

I think that was a buy 3 get-1-free offer, 'twas 19th century, but I've learned something new today - ta.

Well, *that* little sketcher must have been English! It's the first set of pipes I have ever seen with four drones! (For the few out there who don't know what drones are, they are the bits of wood on the shoulder)
BTW thanks for the info about the code, I missed that, I blame that on the reduced Casillero del Diablo (Tesco). I'm scared of keeping wine too long in case it dies on me

Well Mr B1, I like both, perhaps amber in the tumbler would have been more appropriate. Just where you get these cartoons beats me.

If you want to sample a similar wine on the '09, I can recommend this:

Arnaud De Lassalle 2009 Pouilly-fume' - was at my Waitrose I thought - £10.99 for a week after the 25% disco, but today, I note it is £11.39 online, so £11.99 on the shelf. His 2005 was exceptional in my book, and aged to a wine that tasted rather expensive, but too much weight, and not transparent and racy enough for Mr G.

I will do a TN when I have my laughing gear around this.

Duncan, just to let you know I picked up 2 bottles of this tonight
Normal price is now £12.99 but WR currently have it on offer with a 1/3 off so I nabbed my bottles for £8.65 each which seemed pretty decent for a PF on a good vintage
Its sold out online but like mine, your store may have some in the shelf....

Talking about Waitrose offers, has anyone tried the Cousino Macul Cabernet. I have a bottle and wondered if it is worth adding to while on offer. I will try and get around to it before the offer ends, if I can.

I had one under the stairs but bought 2 more of those last night too

tends to be well reviewed on Cellar Tracker

more than welcome, thats what we're here for.
Hope you have luck getting some.
There were 2 more left at my WR which I was sorely tempted to swipe but had the 2 Macul 07 cabs and 2 other bottles so wanted to leave it at 6 for now.
If it is any good its cracking value at £8.65 (+5% off for 6)

Funnily enough, I was entering it in CT and saw Pontac had previously reviewed the 05 Lassalle on there (back in 2007).
Is he still around ? Not seen him here in a while

For me, the '05 Arnaud De Lassalle was a cracker, a proper fume' experience there, and still very good 3.5 years later (even nicer for me)....too full and concentrated to be fashionable tho. It is confirmed a good vintage, yet '09 white fruit is less firm than '05 everywhere in the french classic regions, so the oak treatment probably needs to be a bit more, to counteract some softness, otherwise we may not get the fume' experience. '05 was a ten in my book, for good fume'

One can only hope........Shez, I think you'll be on this before me.

Tribs, I would'ave def * picked that as well (they say old Maipo vines, which could be old now, so has the potential to be much better than the 8 quid tag). I took a couple of the Fume' this morning. But I didn't want to *destroy my palate  for the ole '01 CB Medoc and the ole '01 CB Moulis chat Windmill that I picked from Maj in the nick of time, and just before the 25% price increase ! Having said that, there is no or very little stock of both.

Those old girls will be my house claret for while - and very nice too.

Glad to hear you managed to snaffle some of the Fumé Duncan

Tribs,
I'll try and have a go at a Cousino Macul this weekend
(like I said, has pretty decent reviews at Cellar Tracker

Also got a bottle of the Montgras Carmenere Reserva which is down to £6.50
Had both 2009 & 2010 on the shelve so I opted for the older of the vintages in the hope its developed a little
Hoping this is as good as the Yali 3 lagoons

Yeah, that one will make it into the 90 club will more bottle age - old Maipo Cab vines seem to be true.
Shez, I look forward to your nod, and hopefully there will be more than the lone single that I saw in the fine wine rack this morning. '07s get the superior reviews - and that's to be expected.
Further.....
The Yali '07 or was it '08 anyway....it had me singing it's praises at Christmas, power with some elegant fruit development, no less .
