Want to but some of their Barossa Shiraz while its on offer.

What do you reckon? should I replace a couple of bottles for some PL Clancy's?

Is there anything else you guys would pick up at WR right now?

If you haven't tried the Clancy, its worth grabbing a couple.

See here

Be aware it is a dark, complex beast. Sweet and fruity it ain't.

I have a bottle of the Katnook FB Cab 06 on the rack that i haven't got around to yet. That is also on offer. Their Asda labelled Coonawara 06 is wonderful, so possibly worth a punt.

Edit: GK, ha ha. You beat me to it

Great minds T

This is one I will go out of my way to collect, have just printed it off, if I cant get in I will send the wife to collect as she drives past the store every Saturday visiting her mom.

Perhaps we have a contender for an online tasting?

...and generally well rated on Cellar Tracker across most vintages

Will be looking out for this tonight too then. Thx guys

Hoping that I will be able to rack a couple of these along with the shiraz to drink in a couple of years time
Providing I'm not too tempted when the BBQ is out tomorrow...

Are we talking about a PL Clancy's online tasting. Sounds great, but what vintage are they selling at the moment? I have a couple of 2006s. If they're still on those I'll get some more.

Edit - hold on, the Clancy's isn't on offer atm.

Mel, the Clancy's is currently on offer at Waitrose too, tho likely to be a later vintage this time round.

At least someone knows what's going on on the site. I thought I'd searched for it when I wrote the last post, obviously. Dur!

In Waitrose today.

I'd better give everyone the Store price details:-

PL Clancy as ticketed on the shelf, is reduced from £8.99 to £6.99 (not 6.79 as calculated), so £1 more than last time's offer on the great '06
The vintage is 2008
The offer runs until Wednesday 9th June

But for the vintage 2008 Shiraz:- Not judged a great vintage like '06 so maybe......

I thought this may be a slightly better deal for the same money:

Waitrose Reserve Shiraz, St Hallett 2008 Barossa Valley, '07 not great either
£6.99 in store.

Shez - UR a St. Hallett follower, any comment ?

However, you good folks

Perhaps the Katnook coonawarra cab is a better bet on the '08 a better vintage than '08 Barossa and better conditions for Cab S.

Sorry Ba - the wrong trousers

Dunc,
I bought 4 bottles of the waitrose barossa Shiraz along with the 2 katnook fb.
mine were on an 08 label which I think got a similar rating to 06 iirc (8/10? - correct me if I've misread this)

the 06 I previously tried were delicious so hoping it's the same case here
and Mels statement that it's the best barossa Shiraz is enough of a sales pitch too

waiting for my gate to open at heathrow ATM. Will likely be off line for a few days
so bid you all a nice few days and will speak next week
