There are so many varieties out there these days, from cheap-and-nasty to gourmet. I am a crisp fiend and today, for the first time, tried M&S own brand. Horrid. Tesco basic is much better, and that is not good.

phileas fogg plain and lightly sea salted - look out for Waitrose offers. The taste is close to 60's Smiths crisps.

Crisp potatoe much better with chardonnay than SB, dont you think ?

Sea salt & black pepper for me, several producers have this flavour. My fave used to be the Sensations version but they appear to have dropped this flavour from the range. 'Real' are quite nice too, so are Somerfields own brand (premium range).

I used to like McCoys but they are not a patch on what they used to be, change of oil etc., I now find them bland and brittle.

Dips...., now where do we start? We mostly make own own for a fraction of the cost of shop bought stuff and much more healthy/tasty, our regular being spicy lime tzatziki.

Being typically Dunc without the punk.

The lightly sea salted Ph.Fogg with that Chablis for a fiver
And the sea salt and black pepper ones with the Rhone village for a fiver.

Get the buying right, and you have both wines and both crisp selections on the patio table for 13 squids :) GK, you'd better set the brazier going, and light the bbq. Ba will bring another case ! So we'll have enough for everyone - Job done.

It's going to be a scortcher - my office door wide open on an oak wedge.

A pack a day man myself. Sometimes more :roll:

I am into the hand cooked type at the moment. Kettle 6 packs are on offer in Tescos. They used to do their own finest range which were the best IMO. Now only available in the large packs which are not a good idea unless you are having guests round. Asda do their own which aren't bad too. Cheese and Onion are my current faves. Have been trying the Walkers World Cup flavours this week. Its uncanny how they get the flavours just right. German Bratwurst, American Cheeseburger, Italian Spag bol, Chicken Paella, all taste very similar to the real thing. :shock:

That Chablis is £6.99 now unfortunately. Its still flying off the shelves of my local though.

Ha! There was a Smith's factory on the outskirts of town. They used to completely FILL bags with "scrumps". These were the crumbs generated throughout the processing. I reckon that was about 6 or 7 times the weight of a normal bag and they were one-third of the price. 1d instead of 3d. Etiquette demanded that they be eaten by licking a finger and shoving it into the bag (like sherbet).

GK, yes please to the picture. My garden brazier has had a hole in its base for several years and now needs to be binned. I don't have all that much to burn and can shred and compost everything.
