Pontac, we think the 2008 JE Stich is the best sub tenner MSB of the 2008's. Look out also for The Ned 2009, quite highly rated by Ba, and in stock here, but not tried yet.

I am a big fan of the Ned -- the single vineyard one -- for NZ SB.
TWS has it at 6.91 when you buy 6

who Ba??

Think Ba might have some competition on his hands :D

Good work all round, B+, a little more effort required though.

The Ned is massively overrated. It's drinkers all claim to love it but I haven't as yet found a single wine writer who rates it as anything other than ordinary.

I think it's just trendy amongst the Waitrose dinner part set in SE England who don't want to take something as commen as a Montana or a Villa Maria Private Bin so take the Ned as supermarket wise it's exclusive to Waitrose and it's made by the man wot used to make nice wine at Wither Hills.

The Blue Nun of it's generation.

I picked mine up from Majestic so ner ner ner-ner ner! :P (edit: having reread you post, I see you mean its the only supermarket to stock it  )

I only bought it coz of Ba's review and the fact it was only £6.99

haven't drunk it yet tho, so I can't comment but I'll be darned if I'll let you tarnish all us Sarf Easterners with the same brush <rolls up sleeves>

The Ned Marlborough NZ Sauvignon Blanc 2009

Copyright © 2010 Bob Campbell. Republishing Info.
3 stars
83/100
Light, simple wine with delicately fruity flavours that include stone fruit, passion fruit/matchstick and citrus. Pretty, easy-drinking Sauvignon Blanc at a competitive price.

Simple wine for Southern Softies...starter sauvignon for the girl's brigade.

We are going with Ba on this - Merrrr. Shez, we shall compare notes off piste, let me know when U-ave-a-go. Goose will have to suffer, NOT knowing our opinion -

Not much call for dinner parties in South Wales then !

Hey, Mr G - We are awaiting for Astrolabe 09 in Waitrose - aren't we ?

That and the Vavasour Awatere at Majestic that got 94. Be interesting to see what The Reach 09 tastes like too.

To be honest though I am a happy bunny with JE 08 and the Springfield 09. I might just post to insult you all from now on.

Only quality insulting with depth and an exciting finish accepted here

Mr G, I saw Astro '08 in Waitrose this apres midi for £14.99 - TBH, I'm not keen at all to shell out 15 for the '08 - but then '09 appears to have been hyped.
Thanks for the vavasour reminder 8) - I had forgotten.
Waitress had Craggy Range '08 from the Renwick MSB Vineyards - Reduced from £11.99 to £9.20. Q. should I take a couple, or side step ?

TBF - I have 5 x JE'07, a brace of VMSC'07 several Oh Block 6 and Clifford B on the '08 as well as some DK'09 and a pair of the latest Ned plus 3 x CB'09 for bottle mini ageing, so I'm not in a real hurry.

Craggy Range '08 do you know it ? Is it my style ??

Craggy Range. I have only had one glass of the Renwick. A very posh place in Windsor. The wine was too rich for me. I thought it was like a very classy version of the Montana Reserve.

More fruit though. I cannot remember the vintage. It was some time ago certainly before the 08.

I remember popping into Oddbins on the way home from the restaurant to get some Dashwood to show everyone what proper MSB tasted like.

Blackcurrant and eye popping acid.

Oh yes !

As in the tv advert with the bulldog puppet...

There's a small piece in this months decanter
mag about nz sb and other nz whites.
From the limited selection the scoring ranges from 17-16.5 pts

Have just skim read it but looks a very good read for Pn and rhone fans.

Vic Reeves and vaguely amusing too. Which is unusual for Reeves. Watching him being interviewed is painful.

Who says we keep changing the subject ?

Not us

Oh no
