GK, every now and again a particular vegetable becomes very fashionable.

Today, Womans Hour will be taking radio 4 listenners through the virtues of this wonderful winter vegetable.

Tune in now, or download later.

Happy Parsnip Day to our chief forum grower

Cheers Dunc, I think.

I’m looking after the nipper today, she's got a cold and fever. We just popped out to pick up some bits, went into Wilco's to get my seed potatoes. My new greenhouse arrived yesterday, as soon as the weather picks up I'll get building, shouldn’t take me long, 'tis only a poly-tunnel type but I’m rather excited about the new growing opportunities it will allow, cucumbers, tomatoes, chillies, more herbs than you can shake a stick at.

Yes, I know, I should get out more..... :P

The heavy rain is a pain. Actually, on my veg garden, raised beds and strawbugs rows are still carrying the white stuff.

Lawn area a quagmire. Do ya recon we are in for a hose ban
