I read review on here from Tribs but not sure what vintage it is, guessing earlier than 08.

Thought I try an 08 for Xmas.

Very nice! Initially the alcohol burns a bit but once it settles it's quite quaffable. Great sweetness and body that you don't seem to get from cheaper Amarone.

Had some for xmas and decanted the rest into a 2/3 bottle.

I had a glass about once a week until just the other day and it just lasted and developed beautifully.
The oak seemed more integrated after sitting for a weeks.
Unusual for a wine to last so long but I've heard some of the big Barolos can just sit for weeks. I did refrigerate it as well.

In some ways I think a decent £10 Aussie Shiraz is easlily the match of this but Amarone has a certain mystique you don't get from the new world.
