Red Wine of the week
Of the Vintage 2006. I think this deserves a Good rating. The wine even when relatively cool is lovely. Nose is a bit of vanilla and liquorice and some garden shrubbery........But the oak is beautifully integated into the flavour, a scented oak, and the friut opens up to black plums (ripe damsens) ripe blacberries, and malty bits (rather than ginger cake) and is sweetly circumscribed, finish is short.....but it is very nice.
Not heavy, but full, not jammy, but clear and free, not cloying. Very dark purple fruit that as Mel says ....is very Interesting. However I'm upgrading 'very interesting' to Good. Alltogether a very good effort, and "One Hell Of A lot Better" than a load of Fashionable heavily marketed Stuff.
Cheers Mel, I'm jolly glad you were able to give the 2006 a try, and have promoted the wine ahead of your vintage 2004 tasting. Jasmine whilst pottering in the Garden during the evening.. ....OK, You were able to pin-point and distill that note right down Mel. As you know, I tried all sorts of garden shrubbery and scented oak and vanilla notes.
I can't nail them down like you, and end up waffleing.
